Responsibilities
Adams Street is seeking an associate to join its $8bn+ Private Credit platform. This individual will be responsible for underwriting new investment opportunities and monitoring existing portfolio companies. The Private Credit platform has a flexible mandate, with the ability to invest across first lien, unitranche, second lien, and mezzanine debt to support LBOs, acquisitions, refinancings, and growth initiatives for Private Equity Sponsors. The associate will serve as a critical member of the deal team and will be exposed to a wide breadth of business models and end markets. In addition, the role offers an opportunity for associates to be involved in deal origination, fundraising, and business development initiatives (e.g. diversifying into new credit oriented strategies)
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Supporting the investment process through fundamental business and sector research, building detailed financial models, engaging with third-party advisors, and preparing due diligence memorandums for review by the group’s investment committee
- Engaging in the full due diligence process, including calls with Private Equity partners, management teams, industry experts, and legal advisors, as well as evaluation of company and industry-level analyses
- Actively participating in investment committee meetings by sharing key due diligence findings and investment recommendations with the committee
- Assisting in terms structuring, legal evaluations, and coordinating of deal closings
- Monitoring existing portfolio companies by working closely with management teams and Private Equity partners to track performance and outlook
- Working directly with senior investment professionals to advance fundraising, deal origination, and business development initiatives
- Collaborating with colleagues across Adams Street’s various investment strategies: Equity Co-Investment, Primary Investments, Secondary Investments, and Growth Equity
Qualifications
The team was founded in 2016 and has experienced significant growth. The team has 22 investment professionals, primarily located in New York. In addition, the group has a European focused credit strategy headquartered in the firm’s London office.
We seek an individual who is self-motivated, demonstrates creative thinking and has the following qualifications:
- Graduated from a top-tier undergraduate university
- 2-3 years of experience in Leveraged Finance, M&A, or Sponsor Coverage preferred
- A highly-motivated, self-starter with strong critical thinking skills who can both work independently and collaborate with others within a team context
- Detail oriented with a strong work ethic, who can handle projects from start to finish, and manage multiple competing deadlines
- Strong communication skills with ability to structure and articulate complex ideas in simple persuasive form, both written and orally
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel
