The role is responsible for providing valuable consulting in complex areas of general accounting, applying advanced concepts to assist in the development and implementation of new procedures that enhance workflow. The role uses independent judgement to monitor the progress of projects and ensure day to day operations are performed according to established general accounting policies and practices, industry standards, and internal CIBC policy.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Partner with members of Finance in the creation and enhancement of current cost allocation methodologies and ensure that the related documentation meets the requirements of regulators and tax authorities.
- Based on the cost allocation methodology, as well as internal policies and procedures, on a monthly basis, ensure that appropriate invoicing and payment of inter-company services occurs and are properly accounted for.
- Review inbound and outbound cost allocations to determine appropriateness of the charge in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
- On a daily basis, monitor transactions with affiliates that fall under the scope of Section 23A of Regulation W to ensure proper collateral is posted and required limits are not exceeded. Related transactions and balances will be regularly communicated with applicable members of Finance and Compliance.
- Create and generate ADHOC reports
- Responsible for various analytical assessments of more complex transactional activities culminating in a determination of appropriate accounting entries.
- Discover and document internal processes and procedures, controls, data flow, and reporting requirements
- Manage multiple tasks and projects as assigned by senior management
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of U.S GAAP and IFRS
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in roles of increasing responsibilities
- Financial Reporting experience
- Strong understanding of intercompany transactions and accounting, consolidation accounting and reporting
- Strong knowledge of accounting system and data conversions, integrations, and implementations
- Technical experience with databases, the storage and movement of data, and the ability to understand how data is obtained and extracted for general ledger accounting and financial reporting
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Visio, FIS/Hyperion, SAP, Alteryx
- CPA and Public Accounting experience preferred
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $90,000.00 - $110,000.00for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
