Who We Are Looking For
Our Specialty Accounting & Basel Controller (SVP) will be responsible for leading the Controllership teams for Global Treasury, Global Markets and Global Credit Finance as well as the Basel Policy and Regulatory Capital teams. The role will manage a team of approximately +40 professionals globally.
What You Will Also Be Responsible For
As Specialty Accounting and Basel Controller you will:
- Provide support to the Treasury and Markets & Financing businesses on new products and services, including serving as a subject matter expert on the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Internal Controls over Financial Reporting. This includes ensuring accurate and timely reporting of business financial information in compliance with State Street policies and GAAP and ensuring proper accounting is adhered to and strong internal controls are in place
- Partner with the Global Treasury, Global Markets and Global Credit Finance businesses on systems implementations to understand accounting and reporting impacts and testing of those functions of the new system
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Basel III regulation, calculation and analysis
- Interpret capital results and prepare executive summary and presentation packages for senior management and Investor Relations
- Partner with Capital Management on all things related to Risk Weighted Asset calculations and the forecasting of risk-based capital and leverage ratios
- Lead the team responsible for quarterly production of the FFIEC 101, FFIEC 102, FR Y-14Q and capital sections of the FR Y-9C regulatory filings, including partnering with the Head of North America and SSBI Regulatory Reporting on data quality and consistency
- Review disclosures for SEC reporting disclosures (10-K, 10-Q & Pillar 3), including regulatory capital disclosures as well as specialty accounting disclosures
- Lead the implementation of data lineage documentation for FFIEC 101, 102, FR Y-14Q and capital sections of FR Y-9C in line with the Company’s BCBS 239 implementation plans
- Lead discussions with banking regulators on complex topics related to application of the Basel rules
- Stay abreast of regulatory, accounting and reporting updates, review and interpret guidance and apply changes as needed
- Drive a continuous focus on process improvement within the team, leveraging technology solutions (both big tech and small tech) to automate manual processes
- Maintain department policy and procedure documents, controls and self-assessments
- Participate in new product on-boarding as specialty controller and regulatory capital point of contact
- Be responsible for the development of the team members by promoting teamwork and values inputs from all levels within team
- Interpret client needs, assessing the full requirements; identify solutions to non-standard tasks/queries
- Interpret internal and/or external business issues and best practice in own discipline; apply to team’s deliverables
Qualifications And Skills Include
- Minimum of 20 years of related experience, including time spent managing in an executive capacity
- Minimum of 10 years in large Financial Services organizations, GSIB experience a plus
- Related business experience in accounting, finance, Basel III policy and controller space
- Collaboration – ability to work across organizations and influence other groups in driving to achieve common goals bank-wide.
- Demonstrated examples of operating with integrity, independence and objectivity
- Highly organized with extensive problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Proven strength in building and leading strong teams
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills (executive presence, gravitas and influencing skills) at both the executive and board-level
- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or Business Administration, or in a related field; post-graduate education, with a master's degree in business administration a plus

Salary Range
$225,000 - $337,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
