OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a creative, critical thinker with excellent analytical, communication, and project leadership skills to join its COO Group. This individual will work with senior members of the team and across functions to address some of the largest and most important strategic challenges facing the firm. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the firm’s strategy and operations in an inclusive and collegial working environment, and provides exposure to the firm’s Executive Committee.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You’ll work closely with the firm’s leadership on strategic decision-making and manage demanding projects while interfacing with teams across the firm. You’ll assemble and lead project teams that include analysts and subject matter experts, and contribute to the team’s hiring, training, feedback, and development. You’ll work on various projects like helping to drive the firm’s generative AI strategy and shaping and helping execute the firm’s five-year strategic goals, such as the recent sale of a minority stake in DESRI, our renewable investments arm. Your responsibilities will be commensurate with your level of experience.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in any academic field, a record of professional achievement, and five to ten years of comparable experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as is a willingness to take on challenging, high-impact projects.
- Experience leading projects and managing processes across functions, keen attention to detail, and impressive analytical skills are essential.

- The expected annual base salary for this position is $165,000 to $240,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
