Job Duties
The Member Account Maintenance (MAM) Analyst is responsible for providing advanced level analysis and understanding of member records, related to VRS entitled benefits. The MAM Analyst accurately responds to a variety of inquiries, and requests with knowledge of the requirements of the Code of Virginia, and VRS policy and practices related to member benefits/contributions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Administer member accounts, analyzing and resolving issues with members' records; reviewing and analyzing members' records to correct retirement plans, employment dates, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth; adjusting service and contribution errors on accounts; merging duplicate accounts; updating names and mailing addresses on accounts
• Restore members' dormant accounts in the VRS database system, collecting the required archived data and reviewing members' contributions, interests, and service data for accuracy
• Respond to members' requests for account documents, reviewing accounts and performing the calculations required
• Respond to former members' inquiries for status of account, collecting the required archived data, analyzing data to determine available funds or refund payments, and preparing correspondence to notify members of their account status
• Maintain a variety of online refund workflows, assessing each refund request for accuracy and eligibility prior to advancing to the next step
• Work with employers and members to update demographic information in member records
• Participate in cross-hierarchal teams and contribute to improving services across agency lines
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs, policies, and procedures
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a closely-related field is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
• Three years of experience in benefits administration, business, insurance, public administration, legal services, or similar
• Excellent math and computation skills
• Previous experience conducting research and analysis
• Previous customer service experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including advanced Excel skills and experience working within large databases
Additional Considerations
• Previous experience working in the Public Sector, preferred
• Previous experience using VNAV and/or ALM software, preferred
• Familiarity with refund processing, service credits, plan tiers, benefits, and/or ad-hoc reporting, preferred

Currently, this position has a hybrid work schedule - requiring work in the office two days per week, and work remotely three days per week. The selected candidate must be able to work in the office any day of the week as required by the manager.
