As our Management Company Controller, you will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for all day-to-day accounting and reporting functions for Voleon. As the leader of the Management Company Accounting team, you will lead a talented, accomplished, and experienced group of colleagues. This role is a means to make a difference: as the senior accounting professional within the Voleon organization, you will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, improve processes, and develop, mentor, and train a world-class finance team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Management Company Accounting team to keep up with the demands of our diverse business
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements of the Management Company, GP, subsidiaries, and affiliates.
- Establish accounting policies and procedures to ensure that all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as well as maintain strict internal controls
- Manage day-to-day operational needs, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense management, vendor management, and cash controls
- Work with the CFO, Senior Finance Director and Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis to prepare budget to actual variance reporting and various ad hoc analyses
- Support implementation (and later enhancements) of Workday ERP and other automation tools
- Produce partner capital account statements and other supporting materials
- Lead the annual financial audit process
- Assist with federal, state and local tax matters, ensuring compliance with tax laws and timely preparation of all related tax filings
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller or Director of Accounting
- Proven record of success at a top-tier accounting firm
- Experience with corporate tax compliance, filings, and processes
- ERP system knowledge (QuickBooks, Workday and related), including implementation
- Strong technology fluency with experience experimenting with and integrating new software applications into work processes
- Ability to lead, supervise and guide a team in a fast-paced environment
- Highest standard for integrity, accuracy and meeting deadlines
- Strong technical and practical knowledge of GAAP
- Four-year degree in accounting and CPA. Master’s degree preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in investment management, ideally at a hedge fund or PE fund
- Experience with partnership accounting and taxation
The base salary range for this position is $200,000 to $250,000 in the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, 20 days of paid time off, 9 sick days, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
