Job Description
The Law Division’s risk management program is designed to promote effective governance and risk management that is systematic, transparent, credible, timely, and verifiable through clear delineation and execution of key roles and responsibilities. Its goal is to assess and manage legal risks that may impact the Company and manage internal Law Division operational, reputational, strategic, and other risks. Risk Professionals in the Law Division strive to identify and address risk for the Law Division in a highly regulated and ever-evolving business environment.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated critical thinking, strong analytical and decision-making ability, and sound judgment, as well as exceptional issue identification and problem-solving skills. The candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, efficient, and resourceful, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work with minimal supervision, individually and as a member of a team. The candidate must be able to convey complex facts clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, and observe the highest degree of confidentiality when handling sensitive information. The candidate must be forward-thinking and be comfortable collaborating across the Law Division and the enterprise and taking the initiative.
Essential Functions
- Partner with the Bank’s Risk Management and Compliance (RM&C) oversight functions to support Law Division compliance across risk management programs.
- Participates in projects and/or activities that ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Identifies gaps and inform solutions that minimize losses resulting from inadequate internal processes, systems or human errors.
- Serves as a functional liaison between the Line of Business and the Lines of Defense.
- Assist with implementation of Enterprise policies applicable to the Law Division, including assessing procedures and performing gap assessments.
- Oversee, manage, and report on Law Division risk programs including Issue Management, Models/Tools, training, and Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs).
- Assist with managing the Law Division’s Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), Information Security Services, Data Protection and Privacy, and Regulatory Change Management risk programs.
- Work with the Bank’s Global Ethics Office and Anti-Bribery and Corruption functions to manage and document applicable controls, report metrics, and review Gifts and Business Hospitality requests.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships within the Law Division and across the Bank.
- Work cooperatively with the Bank’s RM&C oversight functions and Business Lines to understand the Bank’s products and services, as well as the underlying policies, procedures, and controls supporting the Bank’s Risk Management Framework.
- Assist Law Division Chief Risk Officer with special projects, as needed.
Location Expectations
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically more than five years of applicable experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Three or more years of risk management/compliance experience at a large public company
- Prior financial industry experience, including familiarity with bank processes, policies, and procedures.
- Experience working in or collaborating with a legal department
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, ServiceNow, and data visualization tools.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $92,820.00 - $109,200.00 - $120,120.00
