Job Description:
Overview
The Head of ETF Capital Markets will lead Dimensional’s global ETF capital markets team while managing relationships within the ETF ecosystem, leading extensive internal collaboration efforts to deliver Dimensional’s investment approach and providing education and support to clients and internal stakeholders. The role requires expertise in ETF capital markets and effective leadership and relationship management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Investments
- Design and oversee ETF capital markets global workflows and processes aligned with Dimensional’s investment approach of systematic active portfolio management, frequent, low-cost portfolio rebalancing, and high diversification.
- Ensure competitive ETF market quality in US and non-US listings; provide oversight of ETF volume, primary flows, premiums/discounts, short interest and borrow and identify trends.
- Develop and report on key performance indicators of market quality, flows, and business processes to investment leadership.
- Collaborate with investment teams, Legal and Compliance to create and maintain ETF-specific policies and procedures, especially as they pertain to custom baskets.
Relationship Management
- Develop and oversee implementation of global broker relationship strategy for ETF capital markets, collaborating with the Global Head of Trading.
- Drive relationship strategy across the ETF capital markets ecosystem, including authorized participants, market makers, trading platforms, and exchanges.
- Work closely with the global broker dealer community to promote efficient primary and secondary market activity in Dimensional ETFs.
- Manage relationships with vendors pursuant to pricing and trading data while contributing to the build out of new tools and processes to monitor ETFs and identify future capabilities.
External Presence
- Partner with Dimensional’s Global Client Group to ensure clients and prospects have an exceptional experience, especially in facilitation of client trades in ETFs.
- Effectively present Dimensional’s value proposition as it relates to ETFs in high stakes meetings with clients, prospects, and industry groups.
- Serve as an expert on the ETF landscape and execution capabilities to support clients. Maintain a high degree of knowledge of top clients and competitors.
- Work closely with Dimensional’s Investment teams, and Global Client Group to provide insight on and contribute to thought leadership on the ETF market and structure.
- Represent the firm in media and at industry conferences and events.
Leadership
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership, demonstrating deep knowledge of the competitive landscape, client demand, and relevant regulations.
- Partner with Portfolio Management, Trading, Investment Operations, Technology, Legal, and Compliance to effectively grow and operationalize our lineup of ETF products.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the global ETF Capital Markets team through coaching and mentorship. Set goals and guidelines and work through them to deliver results at scale.
- Define team structure and responsibilities and ensure accountability.
- Communicate firm and department-level objectives to the team, set priorities, and align resources accordingly.
Experience/Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant ETF Capital Markets industry experience, including a track record of success in a leadership capacity.
- Experience with active ETFs and US and non-US listed ETFs preferred.
- Strong relationship management skills and existing industry relationships across the ETF ecosystem.
- Thorough understanding of ETF operations, portfolio management, trading, and market structure.
- Knowledge of a range of asset classes including equities, fixed income, and FX.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Established track record of delivering results in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated strong ability to analyze problems, design solutions, and communicate them effectively and confidently (both verbal and written) with relevant stakeholders to gain buy-in.
- Comfort with ambiguity and proven ability to structure problems and develop analytical frameworks.
- Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment.
- A bachelor’s degree is required, and an MBA or CFA a plus.
- Series 7 & 63 are required.
