We are seeking a Head of Business Controls for the Client Coverage Group (“CCG”) within State Street Global Advisors. As the leader of a global team, you will be responsible for managing the first-line administration of internal control programs and resolving legal, regulatory, and compliance matters within the global sales and distribution organization.
This role is based in Boston, Massachusetts and reports to the Chief Operating Officer of the Client Coverage Group.
As Head of Client Coverage Group Business Controls, you will:
- Work collaboratively with SSGA business partners and compliance to develop creative, flexible and risk-conscious solutions to achieve SSGA business goals
- Provide guidance to institutional distribution personnel and management on investment management-related rules and regulations, with a particular focus on sales practices
- Develop insight on industry best practice on new and existing regulatory and governance matters, and assist in resolving sales practice-related issues
- Drive continuous enhancement of controls related to SSGA’s compliance oversight and operational risk management programs, including assisting in the completion of assigned regulatory risk assessment activities and review of all supervisory programs, and other key projects
- Report policy and procedure breaches and near-misses, including the coordination, development and/or implementation of identified remediation
- Review, assess and perform supervisory review of marketing material for compliance with applicable regulations
These Skills Will Help You Succeed In This Role
- 7-10 years of experience administering compliance programs for FINRA members, NFA members, SEC-registered investment advisers and/or SEC-registered investment companies, and an understanding of the applicable regulations
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Strong understanding of institutional asset management distribution and sales
- Demonstrated success leading and managing large, cross-functional projects with numerous stakeholders
- Experience reviewing marketing material for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Strong analytical thinking, problem solving, research, time management, and verbal and written communication skills
- Acute attention to detail
- Capability to produce high-quality and/or final work product and solutions in a rapidly changing environment with tight deadlines, including the skill to prioritize and allocate projects and workflow to ensure timely and accurate delivery
- An ability to take ownership and initiative, to negotiate, influence and build consensus and successfully navigate within a demanding and international environment of a leading global financial institution
- Thrive in a highly regulated environment that demands full compliance with policies and procedures

- An ability to form and cultivate positive relationships with internal partners

Education & Preferred Qualifications
- BS or BA required
- Series 3, 7, 24, and 63 required (any missing licenses may be obtained within 90 days of employment)

Salary Range
$170,000 - $267,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
