What is the Global Investment Management Services (GIMS) Team responsible for?
FTT’s Global Investment Management Services (GIMS) team provides first-tier Charles River support to Investment Management, Trading, and Investment Compliance.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a GIMS Business Analyst?
The GIMS Business Analyst provides a wide range of services and serves as a single point of contact in support of Investment Management groups, Trading Desks, Risk Management and Performance, and Global Investment Compliance.
- Acts as liaison and serves as a point of contact for Investment Management groups to ensure all trade transactions are entered and processed correctly and in a timely manner, ensuring that errors are properly communicated to the appropriate operational groups from the workflow monitor.
- Maintains an understanding of appropriate group workflows (Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Compliance) and ensures that changes are appropriately reflected in Charles River.
- Ensures Portfolio Managers, Traders, Fund Accounting and Operational personnel are informed of issues and impacts to workflow.
- Documents and maintains business workflows and processes. Analyzes workflow and proposes improvements in support of client requirements.
- Gathers and documents user requirements, prepares project charters and seeks project funding while managing projects to completion.
- Provides content management in Charles River from internal and external systems such as KLD, FactSet, Bloomberg, and Thomson Reuters.
- Researches, analyzes, and solves problems related to Charles River data and any data services or system setup and assesses the impact to other business groups.
- Tracks and identifies trends for review with operation groups to identify root cause, proposing resolutions, providing recommendations, and conducting system tests to validate the fixes prior to implementing changes.
- Maintains control procedures and performs data integrity audits as necessary to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data.
- Partners with technology groups to monitor, troubleshoot and resolve errors from any system interfaces to the investment management systems.
- Manages the development, testing, and implementation of modifications and enhancements to systems.
What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
- Four-year college degree in business-related field or equivalent experience
- 2 - 3 yrs experience in Investment Management and Operations essential
- Previous investment operations experience with a strong understanding of workflow such as trade settlement, security maintenance, cash flow, cash forecast, etc. essential
- Basic experience with SQL relational databases and administration of systems; Charles River experience and knowledge highly preferred
- Solid understanding of financial markets, standard asset classes and various security types, including OTC Derivatives (equity, interest rates, and credit), Listed Derivatives, Commodities and FX
- Solid understand of the business analysis process for information technology projects
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve simple and complex issues quickly and accurately
- Solid understanding of trading workflows: fixed income, equity, currency trading, fund of fund, and derivatives
- Experience with FactSet, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, and other data providers preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly motivated and able to work independently

There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to range between $85,000 and $100,000.
