Position Summary
The Senior Accountant role is essential in managing and communicating purchase and sale activity across impacted teams, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the financial operations of the assigned funds. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage and communicate purchase and sale activity across impacted teams within Carlyle:
- Facilitate and monitor legal entity, bank account, deal set-up in relevant systems
- Prepare investment documentation packages and facilitate transaction testing with external auditors
- Analyze transactions for appropriate treatment under U.S. GAAP and the provisions of the fund agreements
- Prepare fund performance analysis for management reporting and decision-making
- Liaise with Fund Operations and Fund Management (and third-party administrators, custodians and depositaries, if applicable) regarding investment fundings, capital calls and distributions, investor allocations, and other fund matters
- Assist with investment-related disclosures in annual fund audits
Support fund compliance with CIMA and Luxembourg AIF requirements
Facilitate and manage debt covenant compliance, acting as primary point of contact with relevant banks
Prepare and review quarterly and annual investor reports, including financial statements, and other reporting materials
Manage and respond to investor requests timely
Participate in departmental and cross-departmental projects, with focus on operational efficiency, process improvement and system development
Requirements
Education & Certificates
- Bachelor's degree, required
- Accounting or Finance Major, or equivalent accounting work experience in addition to Bachelor's Degree in another field, required
- CPA, preferred
Professional Experience
- Minimum 2-4 years prior experience in Accounting (public or private) or Finance, required
Competencies & Attributes
- Experience with, and working knowledge of, U.S. GAAP financial reporting related to partnership accounting required
- Demonstrated accounting knowledge with the capability and desire to learn accounting and financial principles related to private equity, and the ability to apply those principles to the tasks at hand
- Ability to analyze financial data and apply critical thinking
- Ability to apply abstract financial and accounting theory to real world investment scenarios
- Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail a must
- Ability to adapt using multiple software applications
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel functionality and formulas
- Proficient knowledge and demonstrated use of data cubes using Microsoft Excel and on-line analytical processing (OLAP)
- Experience with accounting software applications, such as Investran, OneStream, Workiva, PowerBI, ChatGPT and report writing applications preferred
Benefits/Compensation
The compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $115,000.

Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
