The Principal Product Manager for Commodities will focus on pursuing process and technology innovation for energy trading businesses, establishing standards for trading and market data, engaging with business and systems project team members, ensuring integration of functional requirements, supporting operations, partnering with portfolio management teams, and contributing to assessments of energy trading offerings. These responsibilities indicate a strong alignment with the business aspects of energy trading, including market understanding, process improvement, and strategic decision-making.
Commodities is one of the newest and fastest growing businesses at BAM, rapidly onboarding new markets and staff around the globe to grow the existing financial trading business and build physical trading capabilities. The Principal Product Manager will collaborate across front, middle and back office to drive business outcomes, innovation and operational success.
Responsibilities:
· Partner with internal teams and external providers to innovate and develop best-in-class tools for portfolio management teams, aligning efforts with the business's priorities.
· Drive process and technology innovation for the global energy trading businesses, with a focus on building and maintaining the Physical Commodities business.
· Translate business priorities into process and technology solutions across the front, middle and back office
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish standards for energy commodity trading and market data availability, enabling effective analysis, reporting and decision making.
· Lead the business and systems project teams to ensure successful implementation of multiple systems, including Endur, to support the Physical Commodities business.
· Ensure robust and scalable integration of functional areas' requirements into the overall systems’ landscape, including necessary interfaces and customizations.
· Support Operations in identifying optimal deal/instrument modelling that considers the full deal lifecycle across all stakeholder areas.
· Contribute to the management of key vendor and partner process and technology service providers.
· Engage with Commodities leadership and front-office investment teams to gather requirements, prioritize deliverables, and promote best practices for usage across technology estate.
· Document business requirements, implementation designs, test plans/results, and other project deliverables.
· Collaborate with technology operations to monitor and improve systems support services for the Physical Commodities business.
· Ensure front office teams receive adequate process and technology training, specifically tailored to the needs of the Physical Commodities business.
· Work closely with fund administrator resources to ensure comprehensive transaction management and reporting capabilities across all systems.
· Provide valuable input in support of assessments of future energy trading product and service offerings, with a focus on Physical Commodities.
Requirements:
· 10+ years of experience in Commodities technology with a focus on delivering commercially driven technology solutions for a trading business
· Deep experience and knowledge with US Gas and Power (both physical and financial)
· Expertise with front, middle and back office technology for a physical commodities trading business
· Extensive experience with CTRM, including Endur
· Experience leading teams and leading large scale technology projects
· Strong communication and collaboration with experience presenting to senior leadership
· Prior experience leading greenfield initiatives preferred
With respect to NY and CA based applicants, the starting base pay range for this role is between $225000 and $250000 annually. The actual base pay is dependent upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, business needs and market demands. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation and employee benefits.
