The Deputy Chief Financial Officer will lead the finance function, maximizing the business's growth potential and profitability while supporting the achievement of financial targets. They will act as the second-in-command to the CFO, ensuring the finance department operates effectively and supporting strategic financial decisions.
Essential Functions For This Role Include
- Assisting the CFO in developing and executing the organization’s fiscal strategy.
- Working with the CEO/CFO and the Executive Leadership Team to enhance profitability growth by actively contributing to operational and strategic matters.
- Providing data-driven insights to support strategic initiatives such as mergers, acquisitions, or significant investments.
- Working with the CFO and the senior finance team to ensure that overall financial metrics are measured, monitored, and managed to achieve accurate forecasts and best-in-class results.
- Overseeing the establishment and maintenance of fiscal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting; preparation and interpretation of financial reports; and the development of comprehensive and timely budgets and financial plans. Conducting scenario analysis to ensure risk mitigation plans are in place.
- In partnership with Mission Square Controller, implementing and maintaining overall accounting policies and controls for business.
- Representing the CFO in meetings or decision-making processes when necessary. Together with the CEO and CFO, represent Mission Square to key internal and external constituents, including external auditors and regulators.
- Leading and mentoring finance teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Acting as a liaison between the CFO and other team members, ensuring clear communication of goals and expectations.
- Assisting in talent acquisition, development, and succession planning within the finance function.
If you have the following skills, we encourage you to apply:
- 15+ years' experience in financial management
- 10+ years in a financial leadership role
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree (preferably in accounting or finance)
- Demonstrate effective communication, leadership, problem-solving, and strategizing skills; experience working/ presenting to auditors, executives, and the Board of Directors
- Agile, continuous improvement mindset; ability to identify and implement processes and system improvements.
- High integrity, purpose-driven, DEI mindset with a strong interest in developing/educating colleagues in financial matters.
- Technically grounded in planning, budgeting, controls, financial and management reporting, and systems
- Technical knowledge of US GAAP is required.
- Preferred: FSA, MBA, CFA, or CPA a plus
- Preferred experience in financial services, banking, insurance, or fintech
