Tower Research Capital, a high-frequency proprietary trading firm founded in 1998, seeks a Senior Associate, Immigration to join our New York-based Human Resources Operations team.
The Immigration Senior Associate will work closely with employees, candidates, and external specialists to provide a positive immigration experience. This role will be responsible for answering immigration-related questions, understanding complex employee situations, working with external counsel on the case filing strategies and updates, responding to changing circumstances and needs, and paving the way for a connected and trusted case management experience. It will also provide expertise and consultation regarding immigration across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the full life cycle process for in-bound U.S. and Canada immigration from initiating the application to approval and renewals
- Functioning as the main point of contact for all inbound immigration matters; engaging with visa-dependent employees, promoting positive business interactions and fostering long-term relationships
- Managing all immigrant and non-immigrant visa matters, including but not limited to: H-1B, L-1, TN, PERM, I-140, I-485, and EADs, while ensuring program compliance with corporate and government requirements. Supporting international student internships and training plans (J-1, STEM-OPT, etc.)
- Assisting with global immigration matters
- Meeting regularly with managers and senior stakeholders to keep them apprised of their employee population’s immigration statuses
- Partnering with external legal counsel in the preparation of non-immigrant employment based petitions as required and for guidance on complex issues
- Educating managers and HR business partners on employee immigration concerns, strategies, and guidelines; providing guidance and recommendations regarding appropriate visa classifications for potential candidates, travelers, or transfers
- Maintaining system records to ensure accurate and timely information and documentation
- Staying up to date on changes in immigration policies and regulations and communicating these changes to stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- At least 3 years of experience in visas/immigration and legal process management, ideally within the global financial services or technology sectors
- Strong knowledge of US and Canada immigration requirements and a familiarity with international tax issues
- Proven ability in professional communication – both orally and in writing – with employees, managers, and senior level executives; ability to present a client-focused approach at all times
- Able to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Able to identify and escalate issues appropriately
- Ensure discretion amid highly confidential information
Anticipated New York annual base salary range $100,000 - $140,000, plus eligible for discretionary bonus
