OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a product manager to join its Risk Technology team. This individual will drive the design of user-centric products and processes to meet the firm’s evolving risk management technology needs. Primarily supporting the Risk group, as well as various investment businesses across the firm, this role involves collaborating with diverse teams to deliver innovative, data-driven products and streamline reporting and operational functions. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
In this role, you’ll partner with risk analysts, quantitative researchers, and software developers to define and deliver projects that align with strategic goals. You’ll understand business needs, specify technical requirements, scope open-ended projects, and conceptualize effective solutions. Additionally, you’ll prioritize product roadmaps and support existing applications, while contributing significantly to various initiatives within the group and across the firm.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher, with at least five years of relevant experience and evidence of progressive responsibilities throughout their career.
- Experience with product management and an interest in developing internal-facing software are required.
- Familiarity with risk management processes in financial institutions, financial modeling, and risk metrics is preferred. Experience in web-based portal development and programming languages such as Python is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a dedicated customer service mentality, and the ability to exercise discretion with intellectual property are essential.
- A willingness to dive into details, the ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and stakeholders, and a proven track record of managing complex projects from inception to completion are necessary.
- Individuals who can translate the needs of non-technical system users into technical requirements, solve open-ended problems, and understand how small details interrelate to impact the bigger picture (i.e., systems thinking) will excel in this role.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $165,000 to $215,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
