The Base
We are based at 7 Bryant Park in the heart of NYC. And we have everything we need to work flexibly. We operate a hybrid working model, with a requirement that our Assistant Portfolio Manager, Securitized Products be in the office 3 days per week. Position Overview
The Assistant Portfolio Manager provides operational and analytical support to portfolio managers on the US Multi Sector Team, with a focus on securitized products. The focus of this role is bond selection and strategy within the securitized product space and ensuring that investment strategies are accurately implemented in the portfolios. Other responsibilities include assessing the fundamentals and the technicals, assisting in analysis, data aggregation, stress testing, trade entry, performance attribution and monitoring.
A successful Assistant Portfolio Manager should develop into a contributor to the portfolio strategy formulation process along with interacting with analysts and senior PMs on security selection decisions. For the right candidate this provides the potential of a path towards a portfolio manager position.
Responsibilities
- Support USMS portfolio team by providing general assistance in all aspects of the portfolio management cycle including daily tasks as well as long term projects
- Review and organize data on various types of securitized assets, including Agency MBS, Agency CMBS, CLOs and high quality liquid ABS
- Focus on sourcing, analysis and execution of Agency MBS specified pools and other securitized products
- Focus on fundamentals and technicals of the Agecny MBS market and other securitzed products and those contributions to valuations
- Help develop surveillance/monitoring reports to assess ongoing performance versus original expectations (such as prepayment speed expectations)
- Monitor portfolios’ position weights and risk analytics compared to benchmarks and targets. Highlight deviations and create orders to rebalance portfolios
- Monitor portfolio positions and trade orders for compliance with client guidelines
- Monitor and manage portfolio key rate durations
- Manage portfolio cash balances and ensure cash balances are consistent with product guidelines and current investment strategy
- Coordinate with the trading desk on trading programs & monitor trade executions
- Review and resolve compliance breaches
- Work with Product team to provide portfolio and investment related information to clients in the form of presentations, written commentaries and responses to ad hoc requests
- Establish and maintain relationships with other departments internally, including Compliance, Sales, Marketing, and Investment
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-7 years’ experience in investment management, trading, or structuring of securitized products
- Experience with loan level data analysis and default and prepayment models
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Personable and team-oriented
- Proficient in MS Office, Bloomberg
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Aladdin
- CFA holder or candidate
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Coding experience Python, R, VBA
Compensation
Schroders offers a base salary in a range of $150,000 to $170,000 for this position.
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
