Private Credit Group Overview
Bain Capital Credit’s Private Credit Group evaluates investment opportunities across the spectrum in the middle market, or typically companies with $25-75M of EBITDA located in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. With a dedicated global team of 35+ investment professionals, we are actively looking to lead or participate in senior, second lien and unitranche loans; subordinated debt; and preferred or common equity co-investments for traditional leveraged buyout transactions and non-sponsored financings. We place considerable emphasis on investing in leading companies with talented management teams and aim to provide a tailored solution to every unique opportunity by having considerable flexibility when structuring terms. We can hold up to $200 million in any middle market transaction and can grow with a borrower into a broadly syndicated structure through our liquid credit strategies.
The Private Credit Group is currently hiring an Associate to join our North American deal team in our Boston or Chicago office. Our deal teams spend their time reviewing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, preparing investment recommendations, and monitoring our portfolio of investments. Team members interact regularly with the Investment Committee and Portfolio Management teams to communicate and refine their recommendations.
Responsibilities Include:
Conduct company and industry research, including reviewing data rooms and speaking with experts in the industry
Perform cash flow modeling and assess various risk scenarios for potential investment opportunities
Develop underwriting memorandums and supporting analyses
Present investment recommendations to internal investment committees and act as a thought partner to senior team
Monitor the performance of existing investments and provide detailed updates to team and portfolio managers
Interact with teams throughout Bain Capital Credit across different offices, senior management of companies and other market participants (e.g. bankers, traders, advisers, private equity funds and other buyside investors)
Learn and adopt the firm’s straightforward investment process, characterized by direct verbal communication and concise written investment summaries supported by in-depth data-driven analysis
Qualifications:
Strong academic credentials (BS/BA from highly regarded institution) and a demonstrated track record of successful work experience
2-5 years’ experience with an investment management firm, direct lending firm, investment bank, or private equity firm
Experience analyzing and evaluating companies
A fundamental, analytically-driven approach to investing with strong analytical/modeling capability; facility with financial statements and a basic understanding of accounting
Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and strong relationship-building skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to synthesize complicated analyses and articulate insightful conclusions
