POSITION TITLE: Director, Investor Services – Commonfund OCIO, Inc.
The OCIO team at Commonfund provides comprehensive investment solutions for institutional clients, including endowments, foundations, and other nonprofit organizations. As a member of the Investor Services Team, you will be responsible for delivering operational service, managing onboarding and transitions of new OCIO clients and overseeing the execution of ongoing portfolio rebalancing processes in a dynamic, results-driven environment. The candidate must be detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. In addition, this candidate should have excellent communication skills to facilitate interaction with other clients, external vendors and other departments at Commonfund.
This position is based in Wilton, CT. The office is moving to Merritt 7 in Norwalk in the fall of 2025.
This position has multiple responsibilities, including:
- Lead client onboarding processes, ensuring all operational aspects, such as portfolio setup, reporting, asset transitions and custodial integration, are delivered efficiently.
- Work with colleagues across the organization to integrate client portfolios Commonfund’s rebalancing, liquidity, accounting and reporting processes.
- Act as a liaison between the OCIO Team, Research Team, Legal and Investor Services Team to ensure the smooth implementation of investment strategies and client mandates.
- Manage the completion and execution of direct investment opportunities, working with internal teams and OCIO clients to ensure timely execution
- Deliver operational servicing to OCIO clients and serve as a trusted point of contact for clients, answering operational inquiries and resolving issues quickly and effectively.
- Oversee the liquidity management for advisory clients, work with clients and colleagues to maintain adequate portfolio liquidity and manage the cash flow reconciliation process.
- Manage the operational execution for rebalancing and trading activities within client portfolios.
- Lead, mentor, and develop individuals on the Investor Services team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Maintain regular client communication: respond to inquiries and analytic requests from clients in a timely, complete and accurate manner and support the Investment Team with portfolio related information.
- Participate in new technology initiatives and assist in recommending, testing and implementing enhancements to the systems supporting the Investor Services Team.
- Maintain constant communication and strong partnerships with external vendors and colleagues across the organization.
- Lead initiatives to improve efficiencies and scale in operational responsibilities.
- Perform research and special projects as needed.
Required background
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in back/middle office operations role or investor services within an investment management or financial services environment, ideally with OCIO or institutional investment management experience.
- Strong knowledge of portfolio management systems, custodial platforms, trade operations, and reconciliation processes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience managing teams and developing talent.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify operational bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership, clients, and external stakeholders.
