ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Senior Associate, Community Affairs will support the Communications department and Head of Community Affairs in running the day-to-day components of Bain Capital Community Partnership (BCCP) programs with a focus on employee volunteering and fundraising activities. The Sr. Associate will also respond to employee inquiries on the program and will work closely with local office champions in the development of initiatives and volunteer activities.
The Sr. Associate will work to engage employees in volunteering initiatives across geographies, business functions and levels through the creation of engaging written and visual content for the firm's global intranet, BCCP portal, monthly Digest newsletter, office video walls, social media accounts and various internal and external communications platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer Program & Partnership Management:
Develop and execute a year-round calendar of volunteer and team fundraising opportunities for Bain Capital colleagues with our key community partners.
Maintain a database of individual and group volunteer options available through local and national non-profits which Bain Capital historically supports.
Publish and update ongoing volunteer opportunities on our Bain Capital Community Partnerships Portal (Benevity) site, encouraging colleague participation.
Advise our business unit and office leaders in scoping volunteer activities for their teams, identifying potential non-profit partners & projects, planning the event, and tracking/sharing employee impact (entering volunteer time into the BCCP Portal, sharing activities via internal communications and social media, etc.).
Communications:
Draft original content for the BCCP portal, monthly Digest email, and other internal communications channels highlighting employee volunteer opportunities and impact.
Work with community partners to before, during and after volunteer activities to educate colleagues about their organizations, populations served, and issue(s) they are addressing.
Capture volunteer efforts via photos, statistics, etc. for use in sharing volunteer impact via internal and external communications.
Strategy & Reporting:
Encourage and educate employees on usage of BCCP Portal (Benevity) for finding volunteer opportunities, tracking of their hours volunteered, and making of matching volunteer grants.
Assist with compiling quarterly updates on volunteer engagement, as well as annual summaries of total impact (e.g. organizations supported, hours contributed) for annual firmwide recaps, ESG report, etc.
Collaborate with cross-regional and segment leaders to gather insights and ideas on how to make volunteerism program more locally relevant and impactful.
Support programmatic updates based on annual learnings and firm driven changes.
Continually research the corporate volunteering landscape and trends to ensure best practices are followed.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
3-4+ years of work experience ideally in volunteer/group management, employee engagement, non-profit fundraising, human resources, training & development or similar areas.
Strong interpersonal skills with capacity to interact with outside parties and personnel across all levels of the firm.
Dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through skills
Self-starter with initiative. Ability to work unsupervised.
Detail-oriented, conscientious, and energetic professional.
Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, social media
Previous work or volunteer experience with a non-profit a plus
Ability to examine data to grasp issues, draw conclusions and solve problems
This role requires travel to volunteer events, firm/business unit offsite meetings, and Bain Capital offices
