Summary
The Sterling Group is seeking an Investor Relations Associate to start as soon as possible. The Investor Relations Associate will report to the Partner and Head of Investor Relations and will work closely with the CFO and firm’s Partners on the firm’s fundraising and general investor relations activities. The position will enable the successful candidate to participate in all aspects of institutional fundraising, gaining the training and experience needed to continue pursuing a long-term career in Investor Relations.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Prepare fundraising related materials (PPM, DDQ, pitchbook, responses to specific investor questions)
- Assist with planning roadshows and investor due diligence onsites, including coordinating participation of various Sterling professionals and the required marketing materials
- Manage prospect pipeline
- Oversee institutional quality data room to facilitate due diligence requirements
- Draft responses to prospective investor questionnaires and inquiries
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant fund governing documents
Investor Relations
- Participate in investor calls and meetings
- Respond to LP data inquiries/information requests, coordinating with various internal constituencies – deals teams, finance group, legal, compliance
- Review and contribute to quarterly investor reports
- Assist with co-investor reporting and communication
- Coordinate the preparation of the firm’s Annual Meeting, including assisting with drafting key messages, materials, and overseeing event related details
Analytical Activities
- Assist with the preparation of sophisticated analyses to support investor communications
- Leverage data and industry information to conduct market and competitive analyses
- Develop strong fluency with iLevel, the firm’s portfolio company information database, including the ability to manipulate and analyze data from the system
Marketing Materials
- Maintain investor pitchbook, website, investment track record and portfolio company case studies
- Design/produce new communications materials that are responsive to LP needs
CRM Management
- Manage CRM system to prepare investor information in advance of investor communications, meetings and fundraises
- Prepare firm Partners and meeting participants with information on investors, including key issues and interests, in advance of meetings and fundraising conversations
ESG and Diversity Initiatives
- Assist in developing the annual report to investors on the topics of ESG and Diversity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from a top university or college with strong overall GPA
- Experience at an Investment Banking firm, placement agent or major accounting firm preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of analytical and presentation experience with knowledge of private equity
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong computer skills with advanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills required
