The Assistant Controller assists the controller in directing the organization’s accounting functions including cost, payables, receivables, and reporting. They will contribute to the development and maintenance of the financial reporting, planning and budgeting. They will assist with the preparation of reporting, legal filings, and audits. Assist with ensuring all accounting policies and US GAAP, procedures and regulations are being followed by the organizations. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including payroll tax reporting, general ledger preparation, financial reporting, audit preparation, internal document control and support of budgeted forecasts.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist with overseeing the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and audits and budgets.
- Assist with reviewing of the activities of payables, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance.
- Assist with overseeing the activities of the accounts receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc.
- Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
- Responsible for month end closing processes including bank reconciliations, G/L, Journal entries, financial statement preparation.
- Monitor property and casualty insurance policies to assure that assets of the company are protected.
- Backup to payroll.
- Verify that all quarterly and year-end reports are in compliance with federal, state, and immigration requirements.
- Monitor and ensure that contributions are made and updated for all insurance and retirement accounts.
- Review maintenance contracts on software and hardware.
- Contribute to the development of financial policies and procedures.
- Stay updated on industry trends, accounting standards, and best practices.
- Account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist with the preparation of licensor royalty statements.
- Respond to inquiries from Controller
- Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
- Lead, mentor and provide training to develop team including training, motivation, and performance management
- Identify cost savings and risk mitigation opportunities.
- Work with direct reports to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on progress to enhance professional development.
- Foster a team environment and develop a finance team

Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA preferred but not required
- 5 years of proven accounting experience with ability to supervise others.
- Strong financial acumen, GAAP and financial analysis expertise.
