Description
The Research team is responsible for the maintenance of Preqin's online databases and products, in addition to contributing towards the production of financial publications and analysis for ad hoc requests from clients and press when required. Senior members of the team are expected to contribute to the firm's "house view" as thought leaders within the alternative investment space
The Research Associate is responsible for contacting fund managers and institutional investors, building relationships with them, and gathering information regarding their investment preferences, funds managed, deals and performance data. Preqin's clients expect and depend on its data to be of the highest quality, something Research Associates are expected to contribute towards. They may also contribute towards the production of bespoke data analysis for Preqin users and the financial press, as well as Preqin's reports and publications. In the data management scheme, a Research Associate serves as a Data Custodian, reporting to the domain's designated Data Steward.
What you’ll be doing:
Functional:
- Call and email fund managers/investors daily to obtain valuable, proprietary information that is used by our clients.
- Establish and maintain strong personal working relationships with key industry experts both locally and globally.
- Understand and effectively communicate Preqin's value propositions.
- Locate, track, and make use of a variety of online and public sources to gather relevant information on industry entities and events.
- Occasionally contribute to research reports, blogs, and publications, and bespoke data reports for clients and press outlets
- Support team members with ad-hoc research projects
Data Management:
- Implement changes Resolve data quality incidents as triaged by a Data Steward (AVP or VP)
- Custodial responsibilities may span across entities and domains, depending on remit and access
- Produce, update, delete, retire and/or archive data (with Data Steward steer)
- Update our database with detailed company profiles containing key information such as investment preferences and targeted returns
- Perform quality assurance for existing data and output from offshore teams
What you’ll bring to us:
- 1+ years professional experience, which may be in the form of an internship
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Communication skills, both verbal and in written materials, targeting an audience up to and including senior executives
- A strong sense of urgency and comfort in making a high volume of outbound calls daily
- Excellent research abilities; exhibiting persistence, patience, and a keen eye for detail
- Strong team player with the ability and enthusiasm to work independently
- Proactive approach to dealing with issues, investigating anomalies and a desire to get to the bottom of a problem
