scope and responsibilities
As a business partner for Oaktree’s U.S. investment teams as well as Marketing, Client Relations, Portfolio Analysis Risk and Reporting and Corporate Development, the Vice President will contribute to the development and effective delivery of HR strategies and services working in partnership with managers and employees within designated departments across Oaktree. Through managing relationships and having a thorough understanding of both the department’s business and people challenges, the HR Business partner will effectively champion appropriate HR solutions.
Responsibilities include:
• Act as the primary point of contact and strategic business advisor for department heads and managers, ensuring the HR strategy is aligned with business strategy and operational priorities;
• Design, implement, and oversee performance management, leadership development, compensation, succession planning, coaching, and talent management;
• Use data to identify trends, address root causes, and develop effective solutions. Present HR data and information to senior audiences;
• Provide coaching to enhance management and leadership abilities, relationships among teams/individuals, interpersonal communications, and performance;
• Provide cross-organization information and perspective to business leaders (e.g., scale best practices from across the firm) and serve as the connection between departments;
• Ensure a diversity lens on all talent management practices and participate in driving programming for Oaktree’s Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.
Experience required:
• 10-15 years of human resource experience with applicable expertise in a business partner or similar role
• Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, talent management, organizational effectiveness as well as others
• Thorough knowledge of CA labor and employment laws
• Deep understanding of HR best practices

Education:
Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
Base Salary Range
$175,000 - $225,000
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
