Job Summary
Highly experienced tax professional with specialized knowledge and expertise in Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740).Manage the income tax accounting and reporting functions under ASC 740, ensuring the provision for income taxes is accurate, tax accounts on the balance sheet are properly stated, and all related financial and regulatory reporting disclosures are accurately and timely reported. Support the Federal Reserve Stress Tests and Capital Planning exercises.
Manage business relationship with Accounting for Income Tax Managed Service team and perform high quality review of deliverables. Provide thought leadership with comprehensive knowledge within the most complex tax disciplines, crossing multiple areas of specialization.
Engage with Tax senior management and business partners, advising on the impact of tax issues and changes.
Essential duties and responsibilities

- Actively coordinate with Managed Services team and perform review of monthly and quarterly income tax provisions, effective tax rate for forecasting and financial reporting purposes, tax account reconciliations, and financial reporting disclosures deliverables.
- Support the income tax provision and deferred tax asset reporting for Federal Reserve Stress Tests and Capital Planning exercises and review deliverables from Managed Services team.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls over the income tax reporting processes (Sarbanes Oxley compliance) and manage audit of controls by internal and external auditors.
- Lead tax accounting process improvements, documentation of policies and procedures and support implementation of tax strategies.
- Research, analyze and resolve the most complex tax issues, applying a thorough understanding of relevant tax law and tax and regulatory accounting principles and concepts. Document and communicate solutions (both verbally and in writing) to tax and non-tax professionals at various levels within the organization.
- Supervise the maintenance of accounting for income tax records necessary for proper Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) financial statement presentation.
- Resolve the most complex issues leveraging strong and broad relationships throughout the enterprise.
- Engage with business partners to analyze the tax implications of proposed and existing business transactions, identifying and researching solutions, and appropriately communicating conclusions.
- Identify and analyze tax planning opportunities.
Required qualifications

- Bachelor's degree and CPA.
- 7 years of professional experience including Big 4 or large corporate tax experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4 years of reviewing moderate to complex tax returns and leading teams.
- Advanced understanding of principles, practices, theories and/or methodologies associated with the tax discipline, including knowledge of tax return software.
- Strong computer skills in Excel and other Microsoft products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced analytical skills and tax research skills and the ability to solve complex technical and business problems.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise judgement in solving technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of business objectives and priorities.
- Ability to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex and unusual situations.
Preferred qualifications
- 12 years of Big 4 or large corporate tax experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced degree in Taxation (MS or JD/LLM).
- Banking or financial services taxation experience.
- Experience with OneSource Tax Provision software.
