Currently, NC Department of Adult Corrections have opening for 3 Human Resources Technician II positions (60059969, 60001071 and 60066177) which will function from DAC Human Resources Division in Raleigh.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Processing Leave of Absence (LOA) and Separation actions in the State of North Carolina's Integrated Human Resources Payroll Information System/SAP (formally known as BEACON)
- Ensuring leave, holidays and benefits exhaustion is in accordance with policy
- Evaluating applicable benefits, leave balances, holidays due and proper use of leave types
- Obtaining proper documentation from work location to support applicable policy and benefits actions
- Processing actions, leave exhaustion and leave payouts in a timely manner by payroll deadline to ensure accurate pay
- Adhering to state and federal laws as well as OSHR (Office of State Human Resources) and NC DPS policies regarding the application of HR leave and benefit programs
- Providing technical support to the field and Departmental Personnel on leave and benefit policies as well as time and leave functions in Beacon/SAP as these apply to leave of absence, leave without pay, separations and benefits (FML, FIL, VSL, Military, Disability, Workers' Comp and Paid Parental Leave)
This section is going through a recentralization phase, the 3rd and final phase and those applying for this position will have the following additional job responsibilities during Phase 3:- Serve as the liaison between the NC Depart of Treasurer, Retirement System Division, and DAC employees
- Reviews retirement and disability applications to ensure eligibility, timeliness, and accuracy, ensure all DAC and Department of Treasurer procedural requirements are met
- Processes new disability applications, set up new files, send additional information letters and/or approval/denial letters to the employee and their work location
- Provides the manager with forms to pay employees that have been approved for short-term disability on the monthly payroll
- Maintains a database for short-term disability, retirement and death
- Provides counsel and guidance to employees through the entire Disability and Retirement application process and while out on Short-Term Disability
- Utilizes FIORI/ ORBIT daily to research, monitor and track all applications and maintaining incoming/outgoing application database
- Reports all employee deaths to the Retirement System immediately after notification from a work facility is received
- Completes all necessary documentation to determine final payroll status as well as benefit letters to the family and work location for employee death

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state's pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $35,984 – $62,971.
