MIMTA founded in 1985, is a registered investment adviser and wholly owned subsidiary of John Hancock/Manulife Financial Corporation. MIMTA is based in Boston, Massachusetts and is comprised of two core businesses; Manulife Investment Management Timberland (MIM T) which develops and manages timberland investments and Manulife Investment Management Agriculture (MIM AG) which develops and runs farmland investments. MIMTA develops and manages diversified agricultural and timberland portfolios for a global client base. As of December 2019, assets under management totaled $10.5 billion. MIMTA is seeking a qualified candidate to join the team in Louisiana, based out of our DeRidder, LA office. This position supports forest management operations on approximately 50,000 acres in East Texas and Western Louisiana. Daily assignments are performed in a friendly team environment alongside a diverse group of foresters, managers and administrative personnel.
Candidates will be considered for either Forester or Associate Forester depending on their experience, education, and qualifications. Salary will be commensurate with the level at which the candidate is hired.

Key Activities of the position include:
- Assisting delivered timber harvesting operations including planning, harvest layout, contract administration, timber security, quality inspections and reporting. Developing site specific silviculture prescriptions, planning, budgeting, implementing and performing quality inspections and reporting all applicable operations.
- Administering local reforestation programs to ensure successful plantations are reestablished that meet or exceed growth expectations.
- Update inventory and mapping software in conjunction with resource support personnel.
- Support regional stewardship activities and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) Program objectives.
- Asset protection, working with external consultants, contractors and state agency personnel to ensure casualty losses are minimized.
- Work with HFM Recreational License Administrators, hunters, and other recreational users to ensure license compliance and maximize non-timber revenue.
- Participate in special projects to add diversity and broaden skills.
Position Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years forest management experience is desirable.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
- Strong computer and analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.
- Knowledge or ability to learn and apply key financial concepts to business decisions.
- Must be team player and have strong communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated and client service oriented.

$41,025.00 USD - $68,375.00 USD
