This position is eligible for incentive compensation and has a maximum incentive opportunity of 20% of base salary.
The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking an experienced individual to work as an Investment Officer III, STRS (IO III) on the Investment Data Solutions team.
Investment Services is comprised of the following business areas in the Investment Branch: Operations, Performance, Compliance, Data Solutions, and Administration. Investment Services’ primary function is toprovide middle-office operational, performance and compliance support for internal and external portfolio activities, and by partnering with the asset classes to align business services for the successful implementation of investment policies.
Under the general direction of the Associate Portfolio Manager of Investment Data Solutions, the IO III provides research, maintain, and implementation of the investment data and technology functions for the Investment Branch. The incumbent will support efforts to optimize the use of data, advanced analytics, and technology to enable business growth, process automation and champion innovation and support the development of critical functions of data engineering, architectural and key application support to drive values for the Investments Branch. The incumbent will be responsible for performing the following complex duties requiring the highest degree of independence, confidentiality, creativity and discretionary judgment while demonstrating effective oral and written communication skills, and professional knowledge of investment applications.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Knowledge of investment principles and practices, investment types and markets
- Knowledge of best practice project management principles and methodologies
- Knowledge of technological concepts and language
- Knowledge of data management concepts, data quality automation, and data file/stream management
- Experience in portfolio, quantitative, platform analyses
- Experience in application development SDLC, testing and oversight
- Experience in quality assurance and quality control
- Ability to work cross functionally among all CalSTRS asset classes
- Ability to successfully work with internal and external clients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- CFA or CAIA certification
An incumbent who possesses a professional certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential.
Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.
