Position Summary
The Vice President of Investor Relations (“VP”) will lead capital raising activities for the company. The VP will specifically cultivate and maintain relationships with family offices, high-net-worth investors, registered investment advisors, and others to raise GP and LP equity to support the company’s aggressive acquisition plans. The VP will market investment opportunities, obtain, and close capital commitments, and work with the Chief Investment Officer / Managing Directors to create best in class investor communication and reporting. This position will also help increase investor recognition of the Company with family offices, RIAs, and high-net-worth investors. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a keen understanding of real estate investments along with strong financial and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Primary focus on capital raising, investor identification and solicitation; establishing initial dialogues; preparing targeted/investor-specific presentation materials; coordinating fundraising and creating detailed diligence follow-up meetings.
- Build, establish and cultivate investor relationships with investors and/or their managers/advisors, with the intent of attracting capital for a variety of real estate focused investment opportunities. Focus should be on family offices, high-net-worth investors, and registered investment advisors.
- Initiate calls to investors and meet face-to-face to explain investment opportunities.
- Effectively articulate the investment philosophy and strategy to potential and existing investors.
- Increase investor recognition of Company, its platform and strategy and extend Company’s connectivity in the global family office arena and with registered investment advisors.
- Maintain presence externally in the field through participation at industry conferences and outside organizations.
- Market new opportunities; obtain capital commitments; solicit for new business via telephone, networking, and other lead sources.
- Work with the CIO / Managing Directors to develop a multi-year capital raise plan with specific goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics.
- Lead and manage investor relations with 3rd party investors; respond effectively and proficiently to all investor requests. Work with the Company capital team to create best in class investor reporting and communication.
- Regularly visit the company’s headquarters office in the Los Angeles area; preference is for candidates based in Southern California who can be in the office 2-3 days per week.
- Travel to investor meetings, events, and conferences when necessary.
- Consistently demonstrate use of tact and discretion.
Knowledge/Experience
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field. MBA or similar professional degree is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in the commercial real estate capital raising with specific focus on retail investors, family offices, and registered investment advisors
- Strong working knowledge of commercial real estate investment theory; experience with family offices is a plus.
- Demonstrated interest and experience across all real estate asset classes with strong focus on multifamily and BTR.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Fundamental understanding of fund accounting and tax reporting.
- Multifamily and build-to-rent single-family asset investment knowledge is important; knowledge of other housing-centric asset classes is a plus
- Demonstrated experience working with high quality investment organizations, combined with a track record of delivering results at both the strategic and sales levels.
- An established network of high-level investor contacts in the Southeast and Texas along with Southern California and New York and other major US markets; foreign capital contact is a plus
- A strong understanding of real estate investment products and the ability to translate that knowledge into an effective sales, product, and marketing platform.
- Demonstrated organizational skills that will allow him/her to work effectively with clients.
- Strong strategic, leadership, and presentation skills, supported by excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated multi-modal communication style that reaches every stakeholder, specifically excellent verbal, and written communications.

Technical/Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Real Estate, Economics, or related field preferred; graduate degree a plus
- Strong Proficiency in MS Office and Excel; experience with Argus and Yardi preferred
- Demonstrated ability to use and learn new technology (e.g., computers/hardware, mobile, software, cloud-based programs
