We are seeking a hands-on Project Manager to own the full life-cycle of external technology solutions that powers our hedge fund. You will translate business vision into actionable roadmaps, drive vendor evaluations (POCs, RFPs), and orchestrate execution across trading, operations, treasury, back office, fund accounting, risk, research, compliance, legal and HR. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable white-boarding FIX workflows with traders, constructing RFP scorecards, or running JIRA scrums with vendor PMs.
This role sits between business leadership, engineering, and external vendors – translating strategy into executable plans, driving delivery, and ensuring each solution meets the firm’s goals.
Core Responsibilities
Discovery and Requirements Gathering:
o Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, journey mapping
o Decompose high-level goals into epics, user stories, acceptance criteria
o Maintain an enterprise requirements backlog and dependency matrix
Vendor Strategy and Evaluation
o Run market scans, build long-lists and short-lists of vendors
o Design RFI/RFP packages and objective scoring models
o Coordinate proof-of-concepts / sandbox testing with end users
Project and Program Management
o Build detailed project plans (scope, timeline, budget, risks) and run complex, cross-functional projects
o Drive daily/weekly stand-ups, steering committees, status reporting
o Escalate blockers; manage change control and cross-vendor dependencies
Quality Assurance & UAT Testing
o Author test scripts, coordinate data sets and environments
o Lead user acceptance testing, defect triage, sign-off gate
o Ensure regulatory/compliance validation where relevant
Roll-out and Product Adoption
o Build training materials, quick-reference guides
o Conduct SME train-the-trainer sessions
o Measure adoption, capture feedback for continuous improvement
Production Support and Product Ownership
o Serve as Level-0/1 functional SME for internal users
o Maintain product roadmap in concert with vendor account teams
o Drive periodic vendor Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), SLA reviews, and contract renewals
Qualifications
- 4-10 years as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Technical Product Manager in buyside, sell-side, or FinTech vendor environment
- Deep functional understanding of at least two of the following systems: Portfolio Management Systems (Allvue, Broadridge, or Aladdin PMS), Order Management Systems (EZE, Charles River, Enfusion, or Fidessa OMSs), Execution Management Systems (FlexTrade, Portware, or Bloomberg EMS), Middle-office and Treasury, Fund Accounting (Geneva, or Broadridge), performance/risk systems (Arcana, Barra, or Axioma), Research Management Systems (Bipsync or similar)
- Proven track record running end-to-end RFPs and POCs; managing vendors; negotiation savvy with vendor MSAs/SOWs
- Strong project management skills and toolkits: Agile/Scrum, PMP, or PMI-ACP
- Hands-on familiarity with FIX, market data feeds, reconciliations, reference data, and reporting pipelines
- Comfort querying SQL and manipulating data for testing/analysis (scripting languages and Python is a plus)
- Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to craft C-level decks and line-level user stories alike
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Computer Science or related; CFA/FRM or advanced degree a plus
