Lazard is seeking a Geologist to join the Power, Energy and Infrastructure team based in Houston, Texas. This position will require independent and entrepreneurial contributions to a variety of projects working directly with investment bankers, technical personnel and industry clients to execute on M&A, A&D and other strategic advisory initiatives across the energy landscape.
We’ll trust you to:
- Support live process execution, working hand-in-hand with a dedicated technical team of engineers, technicians, corporate finance bankers and vendors across upstream, midstream, alternative energy and financing engagements
- Prepare top-quality subsurface analyses for client presentations and marketing materials
- Build and maintain Petra projects for a variety conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon basins
- Prepare deep-dive basin studies to characterize subsurface structure, quality, complexities and trends to help quantify recoverable oil & gas volumes and establish commercial viability
- Work closely with engineering and technical analysts to establish type curve areas, quantify undeveloped inventories, and perform 3D risk assessments for horizontal development projects
- Evaluate well logs, pick formation tops, prepare cross-section analyses, build subsurface maps and conduct geospatial analyses as required for client presentations and case studies
- Present technical work with high confidence and professionalism to executive-level clients and management teams
- Research and attend industry events, training and conferences as required to stay fresh on evolving technical themes and support commercial efforts of the firm
You’ll need to have:
- 5-10 years of industry experience (banking and/or corporate development / M&A deal team experience preferred)
- Master’s degree in Geology required
- Expert level skillset in industry software (Petra, ArcGIS) and upstream data services (Enverus)
- Expert PowerPoint building skills with strict attention to detail and formatting
- Strong data management and manipulation skills in Excel
- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills
- Highly organized and demonstrated ability to work independently
- Strong presentation skills (public speaking experience a plus)
- A high level of responsiveness and urgency managing workloads to meet deadlines
- Superior work ethic and accountability
- High emotional intelligence with the demonstrated ability to give and receive constructive feedback
