Role Overview
The Investor Services team is responsible for managing the ongoing requirements of H.I.G.’s expansive, global investor base. The team works directly with the investment professionals, capital formation team, investor relations, legal and compliance, and the finance teams to collaborate and respond to investor inquiries in a timely and effective manner.
The Manager of Investor Services will oversee the operations and performance of an investor services team that focuses on our Private Equity and Real Assets investment strategies, ensuring the delivery of high-quality service to investors and internal stakeholders. This role requires a dynamic leader with excellent management and coaching skills, a keen understanding of client services, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a background in investor relations and/or servicing, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills, and a strong understanding of the alternative investment management industry. Role Responsibilities
- Manage a team comprised of Private Equity and Real Assets strategy-specific investor services professionals, who will primarily focus investor inquiries, reporting requests, and other business critical items ensuring timelines are met.
- Act as the strategic thought leader for their pillar, with deep understanding of covered strategies. Managers should be able to explain key concepts (e.g., every term on a Capital Call) and their significance, communicate effectively with investors, and train team members to ensure consistent execution.
- Develop the team’s subject matter expertise in the strategies under the team’s purview and understanding the nuances of each, while also working across pillars within investor services to ensure a consistent, high-quality deliverable for all investors and stakeholders.
- Deliver an exceptional investor experience through a proactive approach with attention to detail, empathy, and effective communication, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables from the internal and external teams through oversight and quality control measures.
- Manage communications and relationships with all internal and external teams. Create effective working relationships and build alignment with business teams, and key subject matter experts across the firm.
- Ensure that the process and procedures, investor content management tools, and training guides are regularly updated and maintained for the Private Equity and Real Assets specific pillar, as well as for the entire Investor Services team, as applicable.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and development of team members, providing feedback and coaching as needed.
- Monitor and assess current and evolving industry trends and events affecting investor needs and communications and make recommended changes and improvements as applicable
- Coordinate with senior management and other teams on cross-functional initiatives and projects.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 5-7+ years of experience, minimum 3 years in Private Equity, Private Credit, and/or Real Assets, in investor servicing, reporting, marketing, or communications in the alternative investment industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, communications, English, or related field.
- Professional individual with excellent written and oral communication skills and an energetic attitude.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects at once.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to mentor and develop internal junior staff, as well as service provider relationships.
- Ability to interact directly with sophisticated investors, their front and back office, and senior management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
