Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Associate to join GEM’s dynamic Communications Team, which is responsible for the production and distribution of all internal and external communications. Success in this role is grounded in exceptional copywriting and editing skills that will be applied across various formats, including emails, press releases, investor presentations, social media posts, and thought leadership content. The ideal candidate is a clear, concise, and compelling writer who can adopt and consistently apply the GEM voice while demonstrating strong attention to detail and the ability to manage projects independently.
In addition to writing and editing, the Communications Associate will support collaboration with external PR and media partners and work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure timely, cohesive, and high-impact communications. While not required, familiarity with digital communications tools, such as Google Analytics, LinkedIn analytics, CRM platforms, and email performance data, is considered a valuable asset. This position reports to the Communications Director.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Copywriting & Editing:
- Draft, edit, and proofread a wide range of content, including internal and external emails, press releases, investor presentations, social media posts, and thought leadership pieces.
- Ensure communications reflect GEM’s voice, adhere to brand standards, and are clear, compelling, and error-free.
- Translate complex or technical concepts into accessible and engaging content tailored to the intended audience.
- Internal Communications:
- Support the development and distribution of internal communications such as employee announcements, newsletters, and messages from leadership.
- Maintain employee bios and organizational charts to ensure accurate team representation.
- Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather inputs, align messaging, and manage timelines for communications initiatives.
- Coordinate reviews, approvals, and delivery of content to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Media & External Partner Support:
- Partner with external PR and media vendors to support the execution of earned media efforts, interviews, and announcements.
- Manage media workflows, including email correspondence, timelines, content review cycles, and deliverables, to ensure alignment and timely execution.
- Digital Communications – POTENTIAL, BASED ON CANDIDATE SKILL SET:
- Track engagement and performance of GEM assets and communications using tools such as Google Analytics, LinkedIn analytics, CRM platforms, and email engagement data.
- Identify opportunities to refine or optimize content strategy based on audience engagement and performance metrics.
Qualifications
Required Experience & Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English, or a related field preferred; candidates with strong writing experience and/or relevant professional background will also be considered, regardless of academic major
- 3-5 years of experience in financial services
- Demonstrated experience as a copywriter, editor, or in a similar writing-focused role
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Proven ability to write and edit content across a range of platforms, audiences, and formats
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite

- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex ideas and tailor messaging to different audiences
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to writing, editing, and project/process management, ensuring all communications meet GEM’s high standards for clarity, accuracy, and tone

Optional Technical Skills
- Familiarity with digital analytics tools such as LinkedIn Analytics, Google Analytics, and email performance dashboards; ability to track engagement and use data to inform content strategy
- Experience with CRM platforms
- Exposure to or experience utilizing AI-based writing, editing, or workflow management tools

- Position type: Full-time
- Work schedule: Minimum 40 hours/week
- Work location: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote), subject to manager discretion
