ROLE PURPOSE
Role Purpose
The Fixed Income Trader Investment Grade role is a permanent position within the Fixed Income team, reporting to Tony Trzcinka. The investment grade trader will be responsible for managing and executing trades across several sectors including corporate bonds, securitized credit, government bonds etc. They will also be responsible for ensuring best execution, producing a daily summary commentary on the investment grade market (internal use only) and contributing to the daily team call and monthly Credit Strategy Group meetings. While the principal focus of the investment grade trader is trade execution, they will also be expected to monitor the market and provide regular feedback to the portfolio management team. In addition, the investment grade trader should endeavor to help generate alpha for the portfolio through identifying relative value and associated trading opportunities in the market. The Impax fixed income team operates in a dynamic environment with regular communication, feedback and clear focus on client outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Trade execution across investment grade sectors
Ensure timely and efficient execution (best execution)
Maintain and monitor trade blotter
Market surveillance with feedback to PM and investment team
Generate trade ideas to help the PM manage portfolio and generate alpha
Produce daily market summary for internal use
Contribute to monthly Credit Strategy Meetings and produce a summary technical back
Back up other traders including high yield as required by portfolio management team
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE
- Educated to degree level, CFA (preferred)
- 5yrs+ experience in investment grade trading within a buy-side fixed income team
- Experience across multiple investment grade sectors including cash and CDS
- Strong communication skills
- Experienced in using Bloomberg and trade execution platforms
