OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a product manager to join its Human Capital Products team and build technology that facilitates the firm’s hiring processes (e.g., candidate sourcing, assessment, tracking, and onboarding). This team manages HC’s evolving systems infrastructure (which combines in-house and third-party platforms), including designing new products from the ground up and exploring ways to thoughtfully integrate AI. This dynamic position offers the chance to flex creative skills while leading development of innovative, data-oriented products in a collaborative working environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
- Partner with internal users and our international team of software developers to build and enhance recruiting software, leading large-scale projects to develop new modules and integrate AI, as well as implementing feature enhancements through regular release cycles as part of our multi-year systems roadmap.
- Scope open-ended projects, conduct discovery to understand user needs, and collaborate with stakeholders to create cross-team workflows and products that facilitate them.
- Conceptualize solutions and technical requirements, oversee development, testing, and rollout, and establish structures and processes that drive projects to successful completion.
- Own relationships with internal stakeholders and share responsibility for sprint planning, backlog grooming, and user support/troubleshooting.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher and two to five years of relevant experience.
- Product management experience and an interest in working on internal-facing software are essential; experience with recruiting systems or operations is a plus.
- The ability to take initiative, dive into details, and manage projects to completion is critical for this role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an aptitude for translating the needs of non-technical users into technical requirements, and the judgment to exercise extreme discretion with confidential information are also essential.
- Individuals with a knack for solving open-ended problems and seeing how small details interrelate to impact the bigger picture (i.e., systems thinking) will excel in this role.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $135,000 to $165,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
