The Role:
Blue Owl’s Compliance team is committed to maintaining a compliance program that supports all Blue Owl’s employees and its businesses. The Compliance Department is organized into three main teams: Business Conduct & Distribution, Investment Compliance, and Strategy & Operations.
The Business Conduct & Distribution is responsible for mitigating global compliance risks by resolving escalations, providing guidance, developing procedures, implementing controls, and overseeing compliance across Blue Owl businesses and third parties. In coordination with the Global Governance and Oversight Compliance team the Blue Owl Compliance team is seeking a Senior Associate to focus on legal entity management
The successful candidate will support compliance by reviewing legal entity structures/org charts, perform analysis of legal entity documents and assist with the storage of legal entity data points. Additionally, the successful candidate will collaborate with various Blue Owl Stakeholders and other firm staff on legal entity management projects and deliverables. As a part of the Compliance team, it’s expected that the successful candidate will take charge of identifying and tracking legal entity data points to effectively support the management of our firm’s legal entities.
Responsibilities:
- Cross functional coordination required with Accounting, Compliance, Deal teams, Legal, Tax and various business platforms to identify and track Blue Owl Legal Entities.
- Extensive follow-up with external parties (i.e., Service providers, Law firms, Registered Agents, State/Country Regulators. etc.).
- Review of data points entered into our Global Entity Management System.
- Review and compare legal organization structure charts.
- Assist with streamlining and monitoring legal entity formations and dissolutions of Blue Owl legal entities.
- Great organizational skills with maintaining and storing legal entity documents.
- Review any key changes, such as changes in ownership, dissolution, sale, liquidation, etc.
- Review and ensure completeness and accuracy of all firm data (e.g., name, ownership, tax Id, agreements, etc.)
- Understanding of SOX compliance on completeness and accuracy of data points held within our Global Entity Management System.
- Flexibility to perform and pivot various ad/hoc requests or deliverables.
- Work with electronic tools such as Computershare Global Entity Management System, and Microsoft Excel to track legal entities.
Qualifications:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within our Blue Owl Short Hills, New Jersey office. This role requires in-office attendance, with a mandatory requirement of 4 days a week in the office.
- Bachelor's degree
- 3-5 + years of relevant legal entity management experience, Corporate Law Firm experience, Private Equity experience, Corporate Secretaries experience or alternative advisory/accounting/compliance consulting experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Project management skills
- Work independently and capable of taking on tasks or deliverables through conclusion.
- Impeccable organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Experience with legal entity management processes, maintaining legal entity records (e.g., Entity Formation documents, EINs, Federal/State Registrations, etc.).
- Familiarity with Accounting/Compliance/Legal applications in the legal entity management space.
- Skills with applications, but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Monday.com Legal Entity Management databases (i.e., GEMS) and/or other systems.
It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New Jersey based position will be $150,000 to $170,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
