JOB DESCRIPTION
Payden & Rygel has an opportunity for a Municipal Trader/Strategist to join the Municipal Bond Team to support the firm’s growth in municipal assets under management. The candidate will actively contribute to the Team’s strategic positioning and investment decision-making process through trade execution, relative value analysis, market commentary, and portfolio positioning reviews. The position is based in Los Angeles, CA.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and communicate investment strategies across both tax-exempt and taxable municipal universe
- Monitor macroeconomic and legislative developments
- Conduct after-tax relative value analysis across the municipal universe as well as other fixed income sectors
- Produce written market and strategy commentary for both internal and external use
- Review portfolio positioning for adherence and consistency to strategic themes
- Calculate and communicate performance reviews including detailed performance attribution
- Execute municipal bond trades
- Maintain and expand dealer relationships
- Monitor market liquidity and technicals
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience providing deep understanding of the municipal market
- Ability to generate actionable investment ideas and effectively execute trades
- Strong written and oral presentation skills
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- CFA or willingness to pursue CFA
