Position Summary
The Business Development team supports the firm across a broad spectrum of new business and client relationship-building activities, including the creation of new business proposals and firm marketing materials, upkeep of the databases that track firm matters and client information, competitive intelligence and coordination of client events.
The Manaqer, Business Development – Litigation is an integral part of the team, focusing on client development and competitive intelligence for all litigation practices. The Manager, Business Development - Litigation will work closely with the Business Intelligence team, whose functions include detailed client and market intelligence; strategic analysis of industry, market and geopolitical trends; predictive analytics to identify new business opportunities; and competitive intelligence.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Support litigation practice groups with various business and competitive intelligence projects.
- Monitoring news and developments relating to existing and prospective clients to proactively identify opportunities.
- Strategic analysis of industry, market and geopolitical trends relevant to the litigation practice.
- Analyzing competitor activity, leveraging tools such as Lex Machina, Leopard Solutions and ALM Legal Compass.
- Track new and ongoing matters, as well as business development activities, with existing and prospective clients to identify additional opportunities to maintain and expand the relationship.
- Facilitate client and target development programs across litigation practice groups, including strategic identification of clients and targets, providing relevant intelligence, and collaborating with partners on outreach and execution.
- Oversee and assist with the preparation of target reports and other research on various companies and individuals.
- Special projects as assigned by partners or the Director, Business Development.
Qualifications/Position Requirements
- Familiarity with legal and corporate databases including Lex Machina, Bloomberg, ALM Legal Compass, CapitalIQ and Leopard Solutions.
- Team player with the ability to work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the firm and client organizations.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Pragmatic, flexible and self-starting.
Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; J.D. preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a large law firm.
Compensation
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $175,000 - $225,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
