The Operations team supports the entire Future Standard family of funds providing trade support, derivative processing, shareholder accounting and counterparty and credit event management.
The team works closely with internal and external stakeholders, including bank, subadvisors, custodians, fund administrators and transfer agents to ensure accuracy and execution across daily trades, positions, cash, shareholder trade processing and corporate actions.
The Operations Associate will work across our Operations teams and will be trained by experienced professionals, building industry knowledge and technical competence, specifically in alternative investments. They will also have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with colleagues across the entire function, participating in projects as needed.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE IS EXPECTED TO:
— Provide operations support for liquid and illiquid investments including trade booking support, data management and pricing, new deal setups, loan amendments, restructures, cash and position discrepancies, refi’s, deal closings, etc.
— Prioritize and execute cash transfers between counterparty banks, ensuring accuracy and meeting DTCC and counterparty agreed upon deadlines.
— Analyze large volumes of data from various sources to identify and resolve issues related to shareholder records within established guidelines, quality and performance targets.
— Execute reconciliation of cash, trade and positions across sub-advisors, fund administrators, custodians and prime brokers – with a specific focus on cash, position and trade breaks, researching and resolving fails, and borrowing requests.
— Help manage and track key issues / business projects and work with Operations/Technology to prioritize accordingly.
— Support trading desk, investment teams and Fund COOs (Fund Chief Operating Officers)
— Perform operational activities such as paydowns/drawdowns, interest rate resets, PIK (payment-in-kind) interest calculations and delayed comp accruals
— Prepare and analyze ad hoc, monthly, quarterly and annual financial, compliance and financial reporting.
— Gain knowledge of CDS/CDX (Credit Default Swaps), FX forwards, bonds, equities, and options.
— Ability to understand accounting theories and applications as they relate to investment transactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
— Bachelor’s degree required. Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics background preferred.
— Prior work or internship experience preferred.
— Strong proficiency in Excel is preferred. Experience or willingness to learn investment systems or technology such as SQL, Bloomberg, Accounting systems, etc.
— Excellent analytical skills with knowledge and understanding of process design and implementation.
— Motivated to request new projects, improve efficiency on existing tasks and work autonomously given a specified end result.
— Strong organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and keep order in fast paced high energy work environment.
— Ability to work cooperatively within a team structure and with other internal departments, as well as external business partners.
— Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
