We are seeking a thoughtful, business-minded Employment Counsel to join our Legal team. This attorney will advise on a broad range of employment, compensation, and HR-related matters in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is pragmatic, intellectually curious, and able to translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable support by providing mentorship to internal constituents, senior business and HR leaders. You Will Take On The Following Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day legal advice on employment law and HR matters, including discrimination, harassment, performance management, investigations, terminations, leaves of absence, accommodations, compensation, benefits, recruiting, contingent workforce, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and immigration.
- Draft, refine, and maintain employment-related templates and playbooks (offer letters, separation agreements, contractor agreements, etc.).
- Partner with HR and business collaborators to build and implement compliant and scalable employment practices.
- Manage outside counsel on employment disputes and litigation.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments across jurisdictions and advise on proactive compliance measures.
- Support projects such as reorganizations, compensation initiatives, benefits programs, and cross-functional investigations.
- Promote consistent documentation and record-keeping practices across HR processes.
You Should Possess The Following Qualifications
- J.D. degree and bar membership in good standing (New York preferred).
- 15+ years of relevant employment law experience, ideally including both law-firm and in-house roles.
- Strong preference for candidates with substantial in-house counseling experience within complex or highly regulated organizations.
- Proven skill in offering clear, commercially practical advice on sensitive employment and HR issues along with mentorship that anticipates issues and reduces risk.
- Demonstrated ability to showcase resilience, sound judgment, and an even-keeled approach in complex situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, precision, and judgment.
- Proven experience managing outside counsel and cross-functional projects.
- Comfortable working with senior executives and multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
- Experience with executive compensation, benefits, or international employment law is a plus.

The base pay for this role will be between $250,000 and $325,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
