Why this role matters
At CB Insights, we deliver predictive intelligence on private companies.
Corporate strategy, corporate VC, and business development leaders at the world’s most innovative companies trust us to see their next move first.
In public markets, leaders have Bloomberg. In private markets — where the future is built — they’re flying blind.
Our platform changes that. It surfaces hidden signals about critical market shifts, uses AI agents to build board-ready outputs, and delivers it all into the apps our customers use every day.
The foundation of this system is our data: non-public and hard-to-get data about private companies, their investors, customers, leaders, and competitors, validated and organized into markets, with proven algorithms that predict future events.
We’re looking for a world-class product leader to help scale it.
Your impact
As Senior Product Manager, Data, you will own key datasets and predictive algorithms within our portfolio. You will lead initiatives to discover and add new data products, or improve the coverage, quality, and predictive power of existing ones.
You Will
- Drive the product strategy and roadmap for datasets and predictive features you own.
- Discover and validate new data opportunities using market research, customer discovery, and competitive analysis.
- Lead cross-functional squads across data operations, data science, product design, engineering, and research.
- Work with data science to define and build models that power internal-facing operations and customer-facing predictions.
- Work with data operations to develop scalable strategies to acquire data across direct contribution, AI-driven extraction, and partnerships.
- Work with product marketing and go-to-market stakeholders to position data products, ensure alignment with customer needs, and communicate their value clearly.
What You Bring
- Private markets fluency: You have firsthand experience sourcing companies or conducting diligence. You understand how data is used in investment, acquisition, or partnership workflows.
- Operational rigor: You think in systems. You have proven experience improving data quality, coverage, or operational processes at scale.
- Track record of product impact: You’ve conceived and launched new data products, features, or datasets that delivered revenue impact.
- Customer obsession: You uncover the jobs to be done behind complex workflows. You’ve sat with customers and seen how decisions get made in the real world.
- Technical acumen: You are a credible partner to engineering and data science. You understand how models are built, trained, validated, and shipped.
- Builder’s bias: You move fast, work iteratively, and ship before things are perfect. You thrive in ambiguity. You think big, but start small.
- Clear communication: You create energy and context for the people around you. You’re a compelling storyteller.
- Hands-on approach: You dive into the data, sweat the details, and debug side-by-side with your team. You go and see with your own eyes.
Key Competencies
- At least 5 years of product management experience, and professional experience in a big data environment.
- Prior experience in a product or analytical role connected to data science
- Excellent at data analysis; highly proficient with SQL
- An understanding of artificial intelligence concepts including machine learning and natural language processing
- Deep user empathy with tools for continuous discovery
- Rigorous decision quality. Ruthlessly prioritizes opportunities for commercial value. Structured, deductive, and quantitative thinker.
- Experience defining and realizing developer and user engagement product strategies with clear metrics
- Entrepreneurial. Has shipped products from ideation through delivery while in rapid growth mode. Strong bias to execution.
- Effective and compelling communicator, proven with customers and executives
- Sought after cross-functional partner
Please note this is a US-based role.
In addition to base salary listed below, this role is also eligible for a bonus opportunity.
Compensation
$150,000 - $175,000 USD

CB Insights Leadership Principles
At CB Insights, everyone is expected to be a leader. These leadership principles are like an operating system for our culture. Use the principles as a practical guide to making decisions.
We are what we repeatedly do. By living the principles outlined below, we will build an outstanding company and do insanely great work.
- Solve customer problems. It’s our highest calling. Designing a product? Start from the customer problem it solves. Updating our sales process? Flip it around, and simplify the customer buying process.
- Think BIG! Start small. Great changes start with a first step. Find it. Take it. Build a system around what works. This is the secret to bringing a vision to life.
- Go and see with your own eyes. Meet the customer, use the product, talk to the field. Great systems aren’t built from afar.
- Priorities: Choose one. Leaders give the gift of clarity. They find the most important thing and do it. Max power. Top speed.
- Danger zones:
- Bureaucracy. May the best ideas and execution win.
- Complexity. Leaders use frameworks and systems to simplify.
- No commitment. Leaders don’t compromise just to get along. Debate. Disagree. But once a decision is made, commit.
- Leaving what’s important unsaid or undone. No “circling back.”
- Data informs. Insight transforms. Pull the thread. Ask why. Leaders are curious. They use what they learn to create clarity.
- Insist on excellence. Leaders set high standards and overcome obstacles. They do the kind of work they’re excited to share with the world.
- Live off the land. Leaders creatively use resources already available to them – especially AI – to execute and automate their work.
- Good judgment. Leaders have it. Where it comes from: insight, listening, first-hand experience. How to apply it: carefully on big, hard to reverse decisions. Swiftly on limited, easy to reverse ones.
- Help others. Leaders know we’re building this together.
