Insurance Solutions is a strategic growth area for Carlyle, with a long-term mandate to partner with insurance companies to deliver flexible capital and asset based solutions that support balance sheet optimization, growth and strategic initiatives. The team invests across multiple pools of capital, including Fortitude Re, Carlyle's balance sheet, and third-party institutional capital, allowing for a broad and adaptable approach to investment opportunities.

Position Summary
Carlyle seeks to hire a Vice President to join the Insurance Solutions Group, with primary responsibility for leading the evaluation, execution, and ongoing management of investments across the global insurance sector. The Vice President will play a central role in transaction origination and execution, capital formation, portfolio oversight, and strategic decision-making, while serving as a key point of contact for management teams, advisors and internal stakeholders. This role requires deep insurance domain expertise, strong investment judgment and the ability to lead complex processes across multiple workstreams simultaneously
Responsibilities
Strategy & Platform Development
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the Insurance Solutions growth strategy, including sector prioritization and capital formation and deployment themes
- Evaluate macro, regulatory, and industry trends across the global insurance landscape to inform investment focus and pipeline development
- Partner with senior team members to assess new platforms, adjacencies, and product structures that align with Carlyle's long-term objectives in insurance
Investment Evaluation & Execution
- Lead the underwriting and evaluation of new investment opportunities across insurance sectors
- Develop and review complex financial models, stress testing assumptions around assets, reserves, capital, reinsurance structures, regulatory constraints, among other things
- Form independent views on risk-adjusted returns, downside protection, and structural enhancements across varying deal types
- Develop and execute capital formation and financing structures
Transaction Leadership
- Serve as the day-to-day transaction lead across live deals, owning execution timelines, diligence workplans, and coordination across internal teams and external advisors
- Drive diligence processes across financial, actuarial, investment, regulatory, tax, and operational workstreams, ensuring key risks are identified, evaluated, and clearly framed for decision-making
- Synthesize complex diligence findings into clear investment theses, key risk factors, and downside scenarios for senior deal team members and investment committees
- Play a central role in interactions with management teams and counterparties during the transaction process, including diligence sessions, management presentations, and ongoing commercial discussions
- Oversee preparation and review of investment committee materials, ensuring analytical rigor, clarity of messaging, and alignment with Carlyle's investment framework
Portfolio Management & Value Creation
- Oversee ongoing monitoring of investments, including financial and operational performance, and prepare internal and external materials as necessary
- Partner with management teams to assess strategic initiatives and growth opportunities
- Identify and execute follow-on investments, refinancings or strategic transactions as appropriate
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Partner with senior team members in managing relationships with management teams, investors, and other external stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with internal Carlyle teams to ensure effective execution and portfolio oversight
- Support fundraising and investor-related initiatives, including preparation of investment materials and participation in investor discussions
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, mentor, and review the work of Associates, providing guidance on modeling, diligence, and investment judgment
- Contribute to team culture, recruiting efforts, and continuous improvement of investment processes and best practices
Qualifications
Education & Certificates
- Bachelor's degree is required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) a plus
Professional Experience
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, insurance-focused investing, consulting or related roles, with significant exposure to insurance and reinsurance transactions
- Demonstrated experience evaluating and underwriting investments in the insurance sector, with a strong understanding of insurance financials, reserving dynamics, capital frameworks and regulatory considerations
- Proven ability to develop, review and interpret complex financial analyses used in insurance-related transactions, and to apply that analysis to investment decision making
- Experience leading transaction execution and managing multiple diligence workstreams in a fast-paced, deal-oriented environment
- Strong investment judgment, with the ability to identify key risks, assess downside scenarios, and synthesize complex information into clear recommendations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience interacting with senior internal stakeholders, management teams and external advisors
Benefits/Compensation
The compensation range for this role is specific to New York and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $250,000.

Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
