Job Description
Work with the Client Accounting Manager to ensure compliance with the Firm’s financial guidelines, as well as, client outside counsel guidelines. Ensure that all billing rates, structures, and discounts are documented and in accordance with fee agreements.
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential functions:
- Load rates for new timekeepers in financial system
- Respond to inquiries regarding timekeeper rates, billing rates, rate arrangements, and write-off policy
- Follow up and confirm rate changes in relation to timekeeper effective date changes
- Update client/matter notes in financial system according to agreed arrangements
- Ensure applicable financial arrangement is implemented for new client/matters
- Obtain appropriate approval for discounts and cost exceptions as agreed with clients
- Confirm that agreed financial arrangements are accurately reflected and implemented in the financial system
- Ensure that proper approvals have been obtained according to firm write off policy prior to posting invoices and report any non-compliance to Client Accounting Manager
- Maintain, update, distribute, and assist in analysis of client/matter discount policy
- Assist with review of outside counsel guidelines (OCG’s) and note finance terms
- Document status of OCG for department use
- Assist with gathering supporting documents to compile monthly reports
- Assist with review and analysis of matters with budgets and alterative fee arrangements
- Organize and save key documents for department reference
- Any other responsibilities or special projects as required or assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Excel
- Ability to work with limited supervision and follow up on problem areas.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Law firm billing experience a plus
- Elite 3E software knowledge a plus
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent education and work experience
Estimated salary range is $55,000 - $65,000. Compensation decisions within the range are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case including but not limited to the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications.
