Job Description And Duties

Are you an experienced data professional looking to take your experience to the next level? We are seeing a data professional who will function as the technology and data lead of a team of high-performing team members as you build a next generation data warehouse focused on the investments domain.You will also work with the data warehouse used for the pension, health plan, and back office domains.
This Principal Data Analytics Specialist serves as the senior data analytics expert within the Technology, Information & Business Advancement section of the Information Technology Services Branch - leading strategic planning, architecture, governance, and delivery of advanced data analytics solutions to support the CalPERS Investment Office. This position will focus on enabling the Investment Office to leverage investment data for strategic and operational decision-making, aligning their responsibilities with CalPERS’ modernization efforts and investment objectives. This position will work in partnership with their IT Specialist III peers (software solution architects, infrastructure architects, etc.) to design, develop, and deploy technology solutions for the Investment Office.
Duties for this position include: Develop and execute technology direction for data analytics, data strategy development, data integration architecture and solution design, data warehousing (architecture, design, development, support), metadata management, data governance, Power BI design, development, and support, performance monitoring and benchmarking, Snowflake administration, collaboration with the Investment Office's business architecture team, tool evaluation, innovation, and mentorship of team members.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).
