The Associate Investment Director for the Specialty Growth Strategies (SGS) platform serves as a subject-matter expert and advocates for the strategies managed by the team. Supporting portfolio managers through portfolio-level analysis, performance attribution, and risk assessment, the position also plays a key role in engaging clients, consultants, and prospects. Responsibilities include product positioning, thought leadership, RFP support, and new product or customized solution development. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role with broad exposure across investment, product, and client teams.
About The Team
The Specialty Growth Strategies (SGS) platform is a 11‑member, Boston‑based team within Loomis, Sayles & Company, overseeing more than $5 billion in assets across three equity strategies: Small Cap Growth, Mid Cap Growth, and Small/Mid Cap Growth. The team employs a collaborative, bottom‑up fundamental investment process, with active stock selection as the primary driver of long‑term returns.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert and key advocate for the Specialty Growth Strategies platform
- Enable portfolio managers to primarily focus on investment decision‑making
- Assist team with portfolio‑level analysis, performance attribution, and risk assessment using FactSet, Bloomberg, Barra, and other tools
- Develop and maintain deep knowledge of the team’s investment philosophy and process, portfolio holdings, risk characteristics, positioning, and historical and current performance
- Present investment strategies to prospects, consultants, and clients in a credible, knowledgeable, and engaging manner
- Partner with product marketing to develop and execute product positioning, messaging, and business plans for the Specialty Growth Strategies platform
- Drive new product development initiatives and customized solutions related to Specialty Growth Strategies
- Contribute to the creation of white papers and other thought‑leadership materials
- Respond to ad hoc investment‑related questions and analytical requests from internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with the RFP team to maintain a standard response library and draft customized responses as necessary
- Partner with client intake during account onboarding and provide ongoing investment‑related support to client service teams
- Help resolve detailed data, reporting, and compliance‑related questions in a timely manner
- Collaborate with members of the broader product management team to share best practices and improve product‑related processes across the firm
Qualifications & Education Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in the investment management industry, with deep equity expertise
- CFA designation preferred
- Strong analytical skills to support portfolio‑level analysis
- Ability and interest in developing deep knowledge of investment strategies, including holdings, positioning, risk attributes, and performance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly position strategies and influence stakeholders
- Highly collaborative, professional, and self‑motivated, with strong judgment, business acumen, and a sense of ownership
- Hands‑on orientation with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Additional Requirements
The position follows a hybrid schedule, requires being in the office Monday–Thursday, and working from home on Fridays.
Loomis Sayles is committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. The salary range for this position is $130,000-$180,000 USD. Your starting salary will be based on your experience, skills, qualifications and local benchmarking. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award, which is based on individual and company performance. In addition to your compensation, you will have access to a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, well-being and financial security.
