What You'll Be Doing
Stress testing execution & oversight
Execute end-to-end stress testing activities for the U.S. portfolio. for the U.S. portfolio across defined cycles (e.g., planning, production runs, challenge, finalization).
Coordinate inputs, assumptions, model outputs, and control checks to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Develop and maintain runbooks, timelines, and deliverables tracker; manage dependencies and escalation points.
Analytics, loss attribution & insights
Perform deep-dive analytics on stress loss results, including:
Period-over-period and cycle-over-cycle movements
Key drivers of loss changes (portfolio, exposure, credit quality, macro sensitivity, model/assumption changes)
Segment/product/industry/geography cuts as needed
Produce clear, well-defended narratives to explain results and variances to senior stakeholders.
Scenario analysis & overlays
Support scenario interpretation and sensitivity analysis (e.g., alternative macro paths, parameter shocks, management actions).
Design, document, and implement overlays/judgmental adjustments where appropriate; ensure rationale, governance alignment, and auditability.
Prepare materials for reviews/challenges, including responses to questions and requests for evidence.
Reporting & executive communication
Create executive-ready decks and reporting packages for senior management and governance forums.
Translate technical/model outputs into clear business implications, key messages, and “so what” insights.
Ensure consistency of numbers and narratives across decks, tables, and downstream reporting.
Controls, governance & documentation
Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and documentation standards (methodology notes, assumptions, change logs, QA evidence).
Partner with Model Risk, Internal Audit, and governance teams to support reviews, findings remediation, and documentation enhancements.
Infrastructure / process improvements & UAT
Partner with Technology/Platforms teams on stress testing infrastructure initiatives (data pipelines, automation, reporting tooling).
Define business requirements, participate in testing strategy, execute UAT, document defects, and validate fixes.
Identify opportunities to streamline recurring processes and improve data quality, timeliness, and reproducibility.

Who You Are
- Master's Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics
- 6-10 years of experience in related field
- Nice to have FRM certification

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $120,000 - $148,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
