Position Overview
The Director of Thematic and Custom Quantitative Investment Solutions will focus on enhancing the idea generation, research, portfolio construction, and risk management process, engaging with institutional investors to develop custom equity strategies, acting as a co-portfolio manager alongside fundamental investors, and solidifying the quantitative infrastructure. The candidate must have a proven investment track record and help set the strategic direction for thematic and custom quantamental and hybrid (quantamental) strategies, craft thought leadership content, and stay current on the latest developments in quantitative finance. This role will lead and manage select members of the investment team and partner with colleagues across the division to drive long-term value for our clients. The Director of Thematic and Custom Quantitative Investment Solutions will report to the President and Chief Investment Officer for Rockefeller Asset Management.
Responsibilities - Provide strategic direction and thought leadership on thematic and custom equity investment solutions, which includes constructing actively managed portfolios and acting as a co-portfolio manager alongside bottom-up fundamental investors.
- Partner with portfolio managers and analysts to design an investment process that combines quantitative techniques with fundamental research to support the investment process, manage risk, and new strategy development.
- Engage with business development, marketing, client service, and institutional clients globally on strategic partnerships that deliver custom equity solutions to existing and prospective clients.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and robustness of thematic and custom solutions, including data sourcing, universe creation, idea generation, validation, ranking, weighting, and documentation.
- Craft thought leadership content, including marketing presentations, white papers, economic and market commentary, and client case studies.
- Partner with leaders across the division to support other investment functions such as credit research.
- Stay current on the latest developments and innovations in quantitative finance, data science, and technology, and evaluate their applicability and relevance to the investment process.
Qualifications- Master's degree or PhD in quantitative finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in quantitative investment, asset management, or financial services, with a proven track record of delivering superior investment results.
Skills - Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills, with the ability to explain complex quantitative concepts and results to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
- Expert knowledge of quantitative finance, asset allocation, portfolio optimization, risk management, and performance attribution.

Compensation Range The anticipated base salary range for this role is $250,000 to $300,000. Base salary for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. In addition, this role may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
