Security Benefit is searching for an experienced Head of Solution Development to join our team. The VP, Head of Solution Development may work remotely but will be required to travel to our home office in Topeka, Kansas or our New York office periodically. SB associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.

What Does the Job Look Like?
The Head of Solution Development at Security Benefit Corporation plays a pivotal role in driving the technological evolution and integration of solutions within the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the role will manage a multifaceted team responsible for Solution Architecture, Software & Data Engineering, and Web & Mobile Development. This position demands a seasoned professional with extensive experience in these domains, strong leadership qualities, and exceptional communication skills.
- Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to the solution development and integration team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Solution Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, resilient, and cost-effective solution architectures that align with business objectives and technological standards.
- Data Engineering: Drive the development of robust data engineering solutions, including data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing, to support business analytics and insights.
- Software Engineering: Oversee the development and integration of software solutions including integration with our partners and their technology platforms.
- Web & Mobile Development: Direct the development of web and mobile applications, ensuring user-friendly interfaces, optimal performance, and cross-platform compatibility.
- Platform Development: Lead the development team in enhancing core platforms, leveraging emerging technologies to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
- DevSecOps: Oversee the implementation and enhancement of DevSecOps practices, ensuring the seamless integration of security into the development lifecycle.
- Release Management: Develop and execute robust release management strategies to ensure timely and efficient delivery of high-quality solutions to customers.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with stakeholders across various departments to understand business requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure alignment of technology initiatives with organizational goals.
- Team Development: Foster the professional growth and development of team members through mentorship, coaching, and training initiatives.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with solution development and integration, proactively addressing security vulnerabilities, compliance requirements, and other potential threats.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement, driving the adoption of best practices, tools, and methodologies to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
Who Are You?
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 13+ years of demonstrated experience in solution development, integration, and leadership roles.
- Proven expertise in DevSecOps practices, release management, solution architecture, software & data engineering, and web & mobile development.
- Strong understanding of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in solution development and integration.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives, align technology investments with business objectives, and deliver tangible results.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as finance or insurance is a plus.
- Certifications in relevant areas such as AWS, Azure, or DevOps are advantageous.
