Main Purpose of the Role
Responsible for supporting Investment professionals in underwriting, evaluating, originating, structuring, negotiating and closing transactions.
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include: creation and maintenance of acquisition Excel/Argus models; detailed evaluation of investment opportunities; review of commercial leases; detailed real estate, corporate finance/credit, economic, demographic, and capital markets due diligence; and preparation of investment summaries.
- Candidate will play a significant role in the underwriting, due diligence, and closing process, which will require significant interaction with internal and external constituents (including brokers, consultants, and counsel).
Skills/Experience Required
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in real estate, finance, financial modeling and/or general investment, which can include applicable internships. Full-time institutional acquisition experience highly preferred.
- BS/BA in real estate, finance, business, economics or similar quantitative focus required.
- Excel and Argus financial modeling as well as general quantitative skills is critical.
- Solid knowledge of real estate, capital markets, financial and accounting fundamentals is essential.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
- Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively as a member of a team supporting multiple acquisition directors and managing various projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Individuals should be aggressive self-starters, willing and able to maintain high levels of accuracy, energy, and productivity, for lengthy periods.
- Looking for individuals who have the potential/desire to grow into an acquisition officer role eventually.
- Ability to network and build external relationships in the industry is a strong positive.
- Overnight travel to tour assets and markets is required approximately once every month or two.
- Attention to detail, multi-tasking, and ability to prioritize will be frequently tested.
Compensation
At AEW, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The base pay for this role is between $92-110K. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, internal equity, and market conditions. Additional compensation and benefits include:
