Private Alternatives Infrastructure is responsible for delivering technology & operations designed to enable revenue growth, drive efficiency, and mitigate risk for the Private Alternatives business channel. Private Alternatives investment strategies include Private Credit, US/European Real Estate Debt, Private Placements, and other private market strategies. Critical functions within Private Alternative Infrastructure include Investment & Fund Operations, Product Implementation, Business Analysis, Project Management, 3rd Party Vendor Integration & Management, and Infrastructure Technology Buildout. The Private Alternative Infrastructure Department collaborates closely with business unit heads across the Firm to develop plans in line with business objectives.
What You'll Do:
We are seeking a Nashville based Investment Operations Manager to join our Private Alternative Investment Services team.
This is a people-leadership role responsible for leading and overseeing the investment operations and activities for multiple private alternative business units focused on Commercial Real Estate, Private Placements, and other private market strategies. In this role, the Manager will have day to day management responsibility for a team of approximately five investment operations professionals responsible for all aspects of Investment Operations (Private Deal Settlement, Loan Administration, Treasury Services, Portfolio Operations and systems management, and associated derivative and public security trade and lifecycle events), Product Implementations and Investment Operations Solutions. This role will report to the Head of Private Alternative Investment Services.
The role requires close interaction with various parties including the portfolio management and finance teams, client service support, custodian/trustee banks, fund administrators, legal counsel and credit analysts. This role will involve working in a dynamic team environment and presents opportunities to further develop industry knowledge to provide custom operational support.
Specific responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
- Operational management of internal and external resources responsible for operations processes and procedures to support business activities - deal and trade settlements and ongoing lifecycle events, and reconciliations
- Demonstrate effective decision making and provide insight and advice to research and resolve issues related to transactions or processes, as well as guidance to facilitate matters and process with team members
- Collaborate and build relationships with third party service providers, including custodians, agents, loan servicers and administrators to ensure consistent and high quality service delivery
- Contribute significantly to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards within operations, to support the performance and control of operations
- Demonstrate strong transaction and partnership skills including pro-actively developing solutions to complex problems with ingenuity and innovation
- Partner with Head of Private Alternative Investment Services to develop and execute overall objectives and long-range goals of the teams
- Design and ensure delivery of automation and process improvement projects as relates to loan closings, trade workflow, deal tracking, position reconciliations, and cash management
- Manage day to day responsibilities of the team including maximizing individual and team performance, career development activities of the team including performance reviews and professional development

What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience in alternative investment management, financial services or similar industry – hedge fund, PE
- Demonstrated understanding of various global financial market products and financing instruments (i.e. private loans, commercial mortgage loans, bonds, derivatives)
- Experience working with senior investment professionals and in understanding investment/fund structures
- Organized, detail-oriented and extremely thorough with strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative
- Strong ability to work in a collaborative environment and to present results to both expert and non-expert audiences.
- Proficiency of Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Excel & PowerBI
- Natural curiosity and strong initiative to learn in a continuously evolving business environment
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time to complete deliverables timely and accurately
- Demonstrated initiative in communicating concepts and issues to multiple groups at multiple levels.
- Prior experience managing direct reports and/or leading a team
