About Sixth Street Asset Based Finance
Sixth Street Asset Based Finance focuses on asset/platform investing and origination across finance markets, including commercial and residential mortgages, renewables and energy finance, consumer asset classes, infrastructure debt, transportation, and commercial equipment. Our Asset Based Finance business works closely with the firm’s Insurance platform, including Talcott Financial Group. Asset Based Finance is a key driver of our capabilities as a strategic capital partner to companies and management teams and a solutions provider at scale.
The Role
This is a full-time Investing Associate role based in New York. As an Associate on the Asset Based Finance team, you will focus on real estate debt opportunities for its insurance platforms and its private funds.
Core Responsibilities
- Conducting due diligence of commercial real estate loan originations, warehouse line participations, secondary loan acquisitions and commercial real estate debt securities investments (detailed valuation and financial modeling, sensitivity and returns analysis, DCF analysis, etc.)
- Conducting due diligence on platform investment opportunities, including in-depth analysis on specialty finance companies and financial institutions
- Preparing and presenting due diligence materials, including asset-level and returns models as well as screening and investment committee memos
- Ongoing monitoring of existing portfolio and quarterly valuations of investments
- Assisting in capital markets activities for levered strategies
- Interfacing and negotiating with external counterparties

Preferred
- 2-4 years of experience in real estate finance groups at investment banks, real estate debt funds, or real estate loan origination platforms
- Experience underwriting and executing commercial real estate loan originations, warehouse line participations, secondary loan acquisitions, and commercial real estate debt securities investments
- Strong accounting, finance, underwriting, modeling, and problem-solving skills
- Keen interest in the financial markets and good commercial instincts
- Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment
- Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities and ability to interact and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Comfort working in a high growth, iterative environment
Compensation
The base salary for this position is expected to be between $150,000 and $200,000. The base salary offered to the selected candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by Sixth Street in its sole discretion.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and a competitive benefits package. Benefits offered currently include health, life, long-term and short-term disability insurance and a 401(k) plan. In addition, this role is eligible for paid public holidays (NYSE calendar), paid sick days pursuant to local laws, and additional reasonable time off subject to manager approval.
If a job offer is extended for a location other than New York City, the salary range may differ based on the location.
